Brony "indoctrination" is an insidious means of corrupting organic minds, "reprogramming" the brain through physical and psychological conditioning using electromagnetic fields, infrasonic and ultrasonic noise, and other subliminal methods. The fandom's resulting control over the limbic system leaves the victim highly susceptible to its suggestions.

Organics undergoing indoctrination may complain of headaches and buzzing or ringing in their ears. As time passes, they have feelings of a desire to "clop" and hallucinations of "equine" presences. Ultimately, the fandom gains the ability to use the victim's body to amplify its signals, manifesting as "you totally gotta watch this, bruh" messages in the chatbox.

Indoctrination can create perfect deep cover agents. The fandom's "suggestions" can manipulate enemies into spamming friends, attempting to friend enemies, or viewing cartoon ponies with superstitious awe. Should the fandom subvert a well-placed political or military leader, the resulting chaos can bring down nations.

Long-term physical effects of the manipulation are unsustainable. Higher mental functioning decays, ultimately leaving the victim a gibbering animal, unable to post anything but porn and rape jokes. Rapid indoctrination is possible, but causes this decay in days or weeks. Slow, patient indoctrination allows the Brony to last for months or years.

We theorized that when you send a pony through time, it does not create a new timeline that overrides the current like we had originally thought.

When the pony enters the timestream, time begins to correct itself. Let me use this example: Imagine four Pinkie Pies on the edge of a cliff. Say a direct copy of the Pinkie nearest the cliff is sent to the back of the line of balls and takes the place of the first Pinkie. The formerly first Pinkie becomes the second, the second becomes the third, and the fourth falls off the cliff.

While the basic assumption isn't wrong, the thing is, "verpiss dich" is quite rude- and if you choose to be really rude to someone, why would you bother being polite about it? It is grammatically possible ("[Bitte] Verpissen Sie sich") but other than some seriously assholish boss or something I'm hard-pressed to think of an instance where you might hear someone put it like that.

I don't see much difference between bronies who clop and the women writing porn about shows aimed at little boys. It can be equally badly done or awesome, depending on the talent and skill of the artist or writer. But, I suppose it's more acceptable to do that because it's women writing about little boys' shows and not men writing about little girls' shows. It's one of those weird things about patriarchy, which ends up with women getting a lot more leeway to be pervy and cross gender lines in entertainment. (Women liking "male" things is considered acceptable [sometimes, if they aren't too wrapped up in the "boy's club" attitude] because masculinity is considered the default or even given prestige.) Kinda the same way that men who try to take jobs associated with womanhood are degraded.

About the guys making rape jokes and generally being asses... assholes are everywhere, and they love to be noisy. So, we punish them with exile and ostracization, and life goes on. We all should know that the few bad nuts don't represent the whole fandom, shouldn't we?

Can you explain the weird allure that a children's cartoon has on grown people? It's not horrible or laughable or whatever (people like what they like), but I just don't get the hype.

I've seen a few episodes (the hubby sat me down to watch a few when he told me he'd become a Brony) and MLP isn't like a lot of kids shows. It's not stupid; it doesn't talk down to anyone; there's action and adventure, and strong characterization. It's got clever writing, and good animation. As for why lots of 20-something people like it, I'd say it may have something to do with the age of the characters. They're all single, living on their own, working jobs, so in the same situation that most 20-somethings find themselves. So, the characters are really easy to identify with. It also has really strong morals as a constant theme, and that appeals to a lot of people too.

I don't know about most children's shows... but that's why a lot of adults like the new MLP.

Depends on the cartoon, I'd say. Some cartoons have "hidden" humor that adults can enjoy even if they are primarily directed at kids. Called Parental Service on Tvtropes if I remember right. Not that there's a lot of subtle sex jokes in MLP, but I think it can still be pretty funny. I find it more amusing than certain sitcoms anyway, but that might be damning it with faint praise.

Then there's nostalgia. I'm sure a lot of people miss being a kid sometimes, so they use more childish escapism to bring them back to that time.

Some people are just pervs, of course, and can't resist the bright and simplistic designs.

There is also the fact that shows meant to be adult can be too crude or too cynical or too intellectual sometimes. I mean, I like grown-up person shows well enough, but when I have had a bad day and want to veg something optimistic and easy to watch is usually welcome.

Also if you are an animation buff your options are mostly limited to kiddie shows and anime. I mean I love Venture Brothers as much as the next person but you can only rewatch 4 seasons of material so many times. I am not big into the Flash-esque character designs, but there is some pretty nice animation. And the backgrounds are just lovely. I watch for that as much as anything else.

The huuuge cult of popularity probably stems from the fact that FiM is filling a void: an unapologetically cute, loving, girly-ass show about BFFs and magic and shit that is actually engaging and not complete rubbish. I cannot think of another one like it. The old MLP shows ranged from bland to horrible, and no other girly franchise I can think had a decent show. Rainbow Bright, Care Bears, Sky Dancers, Strawberry Shortcake... they were all pretty shitty. You could make an argument for there being some OK magical girl animes, but Sailor Moon was the only that got any real airplay in the US. And Sailor Moon had a large, obsessive following, so think of that what you will.
