| To be fairer to her than she probably deserves, she could have discovered CC via her published novels. Which most definitely aren't the Draco Trilogy recycled in a world of CC's own devising, and it's a mystery where anyone could have got that idea from reading the slash-heavy hidden world fantasy series with a protagonist who fits the trope that the Draco Trilogy named. | |

| Lysander, I'll salute you that you managed to finished the series. I've can't even past the 2nd chapter of the first book without having my brains going into the Blue Screen of Death.
As my classmates in Uni bitched about it, we all agree that the series is nothing more than a big fan wank that should be stuck somewhere in the fanfiction.net library.
Also Robert Patterson who plays as Edward in the film adaption, he said he suspected the book is based on Meyer's Wet Dream.
Talking about about some crazy, soapy, lonely, erotica trashy novel lovers to a whole new level.

Doesn't that make Bella a a self-insert Sue? Oh god, SO much. Smeyer actually described how she thought Bella would look, and basically described herself.

| Yeah I've just remembered that quote from SMeyer. Wet dreams should stay behind closed doors (or in the classified files of a psychologist log). Not getting published into the public. It's like writing your own sexual experiences and encounters, filled with godawful purple proses and getting broadcast to the public. For your amusement here's the deconstruction picture of Bella's description [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

Okay, I'll admit to occasionally putting myself into a story, but it's always a minor part (some OC's mother or something). No way would I ever write myself as the main protagonist's lover. Of course, the fact I write slash sort've puts paid to that idea anyway, but you get what I'm saying.

Hang on, is that Stephanie Meyer? I thought she was a lot older than that.

Nah, there's a 99% chance she knows her from the good ole Draco trilogy. I have it on good authority that, before the Twilight books hit, she used to be a big HP fan, at least something of a BNF despite her outrageous Mary-Sue fics, and went to HP cons. It would surprise me if she had discovered CC in a context completely unrelated to HP.

| Any more information on that? I used to hang around on the same fanfiction lists and participate in the same weekly chats as Cassandra Claire and a lot of her circle (this was a long time ago, before Schnoogle/FictionAlley, the Very Secret Diaries and the plagiarism wank - I was even one of the people for whom 'schnoogle' started out as an in-joke). It's possible I even talked to SMeyer back then, which would be pretty wacky. | |

And if you did speak to SMeyer, how would you feel about that? Depends what she said. If she was one of the insane Draco fetishists who insisted he *might* be a good guy deep down, or she did/said embarassing things in the chatroom, I would LOL.

Sadly, I don't know what handle she used to go by, otherwise I'd point you in the right direction. I heard about this from this lady. She doesn't like Meyer particularly.

Speaking of melodrawhiny announcements: VISUAL STORYTELLING RUINED FOREVER. I dunno-it could be fun if they'd release copies of it with the speech bubbles empty and let you play 'write your own dialogue'
