Michael Jackson Dead

My sister just told me about this and the only reason why she told me was because she knew that I used my radio's sleep mode option to go to sleep. (I.E. I set my radio to play for a certain amount of time so that I can go to sleep since sometimes I need to hear something to go to sleep.) Why is the sleep mode option important? It's important because the radio station that I listen to has decided to play all of MJ songs in honor of him. Therefore, if I decided to use sleep mode tonight, I would be stuck listening to all of MJ songs and that is something that I do not want to do.

The worst part about this (actually, the only part of this that I care about in the least) is that every news station will be clogged with MJ tributes and similar bullshit for three days. The Russians could drop a nuke in Seattle, and that wouldn't preempt MJ.

For practically my entire life I watched Michael Jackson the amazingly talented performer de-evolve into Michael Jackson the creepy plastic surgery-obsessed ghoul. But "Thriller" and "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" were part of my childhood, dammit!! And now part of my childhood has literally keeled over and died!

Never mind me, I'm just rambling.... :panic:

My parents' reactions when I told them that Micheal Jackson had died were as follows:

My father: "Wow, that's a bit far to go to get out of that new tour..."
My mother: "God, I feel sorry for the person who had to give him CPR."

Also, is this really news enough take up 50% of the front page of BBC News with a giant focking video? Really? Seriously? More important than Iran?

It's all about the page clicks, Doctor Professor. I mean, my local paper's website has a ginormous banner too.

Yes, but here's the catch: The BBC is a government service. They don't care about page clicks. Why are they doing this? I could deal with it if it was just one of their top stories but they filled most of the page with a video about it, which is something they only do for special special stories. Most news sites just had it as their top article, why would the non-commercial site be the one to go the extra mile?

He never had a chance to be Michael Jackson the person. He was always Michael Jackson the celebrity, Michael Jackson the icon, Michael Jackson the creepy freak. So I hope now he's found some peace. He deserves it.

You think that's bad? ESPN Radio and Fox Sports Radio have both broken out the "In Memoriam" spots.

No, Freezer, it doesn't. Farrah isn't getting as much coverage, either. Celebrities have died on the same day before and have gotten equal coverage. When Johnny Cash and John Ritter died, they got equal coverage. When Billy Wilder, Milton Berle, and Dudley Moore all died on the same day, they got equal coverage.
But maybe because Farrah's death wasn't a surprise and Michael's was. The other deaths I listed above, most were no real surprise except John Ritter.

Holy crap and just a week or two ago I was watching a Nostalgia Critic thing on Moonwalker.

And a couple of weeks before that an AVGN thing on the VIDEO GAME Moonwalker.

Are you kidding? They'll have a million special commemorative issues on the newsstands (are there still such things as newsstands?) by next week, if they haven't rushed them out already. Myself, I'm waiting for the "MICHAEL JACKSON WAS MURDERED!" headlines to break so I can laugh at them.
They'll spend the whole summer milking his death for all it's worth, you see if they don't.

My God they're getting the special tributes out quickly. Were they expecting him to die, because it's like they had them on file?
