We've all got those bands or songs that we know suck, but that we find oddly catchy anyway. Post about the music you would be mortified to have others find out you enjoy. My guilty pleasure would have to be My Chemical Romance. No, I am not an angst-ridden teenager, why do you ask?
Regrettably, the only person I know IRL who likes them has a history of mental illness and genuinely believes she is a vampire. She also bears an uncanny resemblance to their lead singer. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I actually LOVE "Teenagers", though no other MCR songs. I'm a little ashamed of liking Simple Plan still, though.

Not exactly ashamed to like it, but Dragonforce is probably the one I'd get the most shit from my fellow metal fans from (what did one say? Something to the effect of 'They're gayer than a bag of dicks') but I've got nothing that stands out otherwise.

Trivium. Their latest album was pretty alright, though they fall foul of trying to rehash AJFA Metallica too much; their leads usually consist of sweep/arpeggio/speedpicking shit that gets boring after a couple listens, their albums are chock full of filler and I dislike the vocals 99% of the time because Matt Heafy wants to show off how well he can impersonate James Hetfield post-Crusade. Plus, breakdowns up the ass.
But at putting my precious hipster credit on the line, they know how to end their albums on a really high note. Crusade, especially.

I still like some hair metal. Dokken, etc.
And... "Barbie Girl". Yeah, I said it. "Barbie Girl".

Like a lot of people above, I don't believe in guilty pleasures. But I have two categories for things that other people would consider guilty pleasures...
Category #1 - Things that would make me lose precious hipster-cred: Fall Out Boy (hypercatchy and definately one of the better recent pop punk bands); Green Day (they deserve more credit than a lot of hip people are willing to give them); Motley Crue and Poison
Category #2 - Music that's just below my usual standards: Matisyahu (terrible lyricist and cliche', but he's adorable); a couple new Black Eyed Peas songs ("Imma Be" and "I Gotta Feeling" grow on you)

Um, well, um...
Unless you count Fall Out Boy, and MCR (on the Black Parade album) as being shameful, then I don't really know if I have any guilty pleasures - because, really my tastes are so varied that I can't pick any specific band that's subpar because a lot of them are too hard to compare.
Uhhh... Disney music?

As in Radio Disney or music from the Disney movies? If it's the latter then there is nothing of which to be ashamed.
I own the Little Mermaid soundtrack.

Agreed on the original soundtracks to Disney, and also the awesomeness of the Little Mermaid soundtrack (Poor Unfortunate Souls is my favourite).
I don't get why Disney is allowing people to redo good stuff and make it shit. I don't know who half the people are and most of them can't sing.

I still listen to my old Duran Duran albums (I'm talking "Rio" and "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" here)

Bubbly peppy Japanese songs from anime. I pretty much know all the lyrics from Macross Frontier's and K-ON's songs - even though I don't understand a single thing they're saying.

I also listen to 60's-70's era bubblegum pop. Herman's Hermits, the Monkees, the Jackson 5, Cheap Trick, T. Rex, the Sweet, and Gary Glitter.

I have quite a bit of Aqua (and Toy Box) on my iTunes, actually. Lots of Disney stuff, including those pop covers. A lot are drek, but some of them I am fond of (Jonas Brothers doing Poor Unfortunate Souls). Assorted showtunes, mindless pop garbage, crap from old as hell cartoons, etc. I totes rock out to songs from Brave Little Toaster.
Mostly it is the Disney Mania stuff that is just out-and-out bad. I barely listen to it myself, but I feel the need to keep it around. Incase anyone asks me for 7 different versions of Kiss the Girl, I guess.

I have to say, Le Poisson still cracks me up, but yes, Poor Unfortunate Souls all the way.
At my place of employment we play decent remakes of A Whole New World and The Colors of the Wind. However, since I have to hear them at least three times in five hours it tends to get a bit old.
Also, someone mentioned Duran Duran. That made me hungry. . . like a wolf. Named Rio. Dancing in the sand.

Scooter.
The man of the improbably bleached hair and the poignant lyrics (EVERY MINUTE EVERY HOUR GOT THE POWER TAKE A SHOWER... lolwat). When not wondering how much the fish is or encouraging jumping all over the world, Scooter fills me with unbridled glee.
Also, I like Emilie Autumn for the camp factor. More like Emilie LOLtumn. Although her lyrics are... laughable (IF I AM LOLITA, THEN YOU ARE A *CRIMINAL*, AND YOU SHOULD BE KILLED BY AN ARMY OF FORCED RHYMES), her violin is bitchin' and the stage shows are full of fun times.
Disney songs. I like them like burning. Or, rather, like FIRE, hellFIRE.
Also, lots of cheesy europop.
Not sure if Lady Gaga counts as a guilty pleasure. It feels so RIGHT.

Hey, hey. Nothing wrong with that. I'm hardcore and damn proud of it! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
However, I am ashamed to admit that I listen to "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani and "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas. Oh yeah, and let's not forget Lady GaGa's infamous song, "Lovegame". [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Jesse McCartney. Yes, he's just an older, angstier version of Aaron Carter, but he was my first celeb crush.
Disney songs are awesome. I can tell you the lyrics to most.
Barbie Girl was one of my favorite songs when I was little. I used to sneak into my sister's room and listen to it on her cassette player.

THIS dear god her three-harpsichord cover of 'Always Look On The Bright Side of Life' was hysterical. Though I will admit to liking some of her older lyrical stuff (mostly the less-campy songs on 'Enchant', like If You Feel Better or Ever) for the most part I just listen to Laced/Unlaced and pretend the rest doesn't exist.
Also, guys, I know all of the words to 'Forgot About Dre' by Dr. Dre featuring Eminem. And Country Grammar. And Let me Clear My Throat. And Let Me Blow Ya Mind. I know. I know. I'm a bad person.

I saw her live back in October. I would agree that she's not the best lyricist, and I don't like the way she glamorizes mental illness, but I love her to bits and pieces. She can bring a crowd of people to orgasm with her violin skillz alone.

Yes yes. Her shows are ridiculously fun. I went in a corset and a silly wig and had a fucking BLAST. Also: all of the costumes. DO WANT. And the violin IS orgasms, really.
But...
Alright-- prepare for a TMI and TL;DR rant...
But I seriously question her writing "Thank God I'm Pretty," a scathing deconstruction of how lovely folks have it better (her self esteem would just fall through the floor if she couldn't count on men to slap her ass any more)(she also complains, quite astutely, that people see her as just 'TEH SECKSY GAWF CHIK' and not a talented musician, which honestly sucks and yeah, it's a good point and go her for standing up for herself) (actually, this is one of her songs, along with "Miss Lucy Had Some Leeches," where I think her lyrics and vocals work). And then she goes and volunteers (or was asked and agreed? I dunno) to pose in 'Playboy.' BECAUSE THAT WILL REALLY SOLIDIFY YOUR REPUTATION AS A PERSON FOCUSED ON HER CAREER AS A MUSICIAN, AUTUMN. I mean, good for her, she's not ashamed of her body, but really. REALLY. I am not sure whether I should feel good for her, that she's in control of her sexuality, or if I should be calling her a hypocrite. Any way, I feel like a bad feminist. ):
Also, she is a dick to any of her fans who dare express discontent with any of her recordings (see: that forum incident).
Also, I don't think she's a very good writer.
Oddly enough, the glamorization of mental illness is one of the things that bothers me LEAST about her work. She is reclaiming something that has been stigmatized, and if it ends up in the sparkly shiny corseted category, eh. Whatever. I mean, I'm mentally ill, and I love that she is so brave and so forthright about being bipolar. It's like The Icarus Project. In sparkly corsets. I might be thinking of it the wrong way, but I suppose she's like a character in a story. She cannot deal with what the world is given her, so she makes the world she has brighter and more fun and burlesque and exciting, even if that dark undercurrent is still there.
Or she could just be glamorizing mental illness, but I refuse to see it because I want to justify my love of costumes and stories. ANYWAY.
