| I got round to watching it. Franklin is delightfully crazy and I'm very much looking forward to where his plot with Tara will go.
Needed moar naked Eric.

| I'm kinda pissed they turn Calvin into a drug dealer too. He struck me as a 'good old boy' in the best sense of the phrase in the books. But I'm waiting to see where that's going since we've barely seen Hotshot so far.
Franklin is also the best example of a Malkavian vampire from Vampire: the Masquerade on screen I've ever seen.
Also, WTF is up with the glowy light thing again? I thought... was hoping... that would be a one time thing with Maryann.

| This is totally irrelevant to the plot at large, but it's kind of bugging me.
Jolee is a girl's name! Why does Sam's father have a girl name?!? It's so irritating! Every time they say it, I keep thinking he means his mother, but no. I suppose it might be spelled Joe Lee, or even Joe Leigh (or maybe Jo Leigh, or perhaps...) but it still sounds wrong. Grr...

| I thought I saw in the credits it spelled "Joe Lee", as in a first and middle name. It did sound strange to me though. | |

| Where I'm from, it's not so unusual to have a first-and-middle-name used as just a first name, like Mary Beth, Mary Jo, Joe Dee (Yes, seperate like that), etc. I've heard Joe Lee used as a man's name, and spelled Jo Lee for a woman. With men, this kind of naming often occurs where a first name (like Joseph) is shared between father and son, so daddy will be Joe, and the son would be Joe Lee. Sometimes the dad even uses his middle name, because he was named after his dad, so you could have a line of men called Joe Dee, Joe Jim (Yes, I've seen this), and then Joe Lee. | |

Also, WTF is up with the glowy light thing again? I thought... was hoping... that would be a one time thing with Maryann. Here's a big "I'm with ya" on the disappointing Calvin portrayal. But then again, I've had to repeat my "let the books go" mantras and have to keep reminding myself that the series is "based" on the Sookie books. It's the only way I can enjoy the series. But back to Eric... OMG! I can't imagine wasting any tears over Bill when you have the that red-hot Viking just waiting in the wings. I do miss the down to his ass blond hair of BookEric. Oh well, can't have everything. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| ...Those people do not deserve the word "parent". I can't believe anyone would do such a horrible thing to their child. GO TARA! I knew there was some badass bitch still in there, despite the desperate attempt to kill it by the writers last season. You smash him to bits, and save Sookie to boot. Damn it, save Pam. I actually like the way they're handling Sookie's heritage better in the show. And it looks like they might be taking away Sookie's grandmother's affair, which was pretty OOC, at least from Sookie's point of view. Poor Lafayette. | |

| They're going to the fighting rings - DOES THIS MEAN I GET TO MEET QUINN? Eh, probably not.
I almost choked when Tara bashed Franklin's head in with a mace. And then I thought to myself, "Tara, that won't kill him. You have to find a stake." And then I thought, "Thank God she's not as lame as last season."

I wish I could agree with you, but... On the other hand, that's two more people to add to the list of " True Blood Characters Who Should Be Tortured To Death." Lorena was the only one on it before. But now that the writers have wrung all the plot-usefulness they can out of her, can she be put out of my misery? Please? Hate Lorena. Hate. And you can add me to the "Go, Tara! Go!" and "Save Pam!" cheering sections.

| LOL yeah, when Tara was looking at weapons I yelled at the TV, "GET THE AXE! IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO BE SURE!" and the hubby cracked up.
The Franklin-Tara relationship is nothing but crazy. I loves it... because he's what a vampire really should be--fucking scary.
Wow, this has really deviated from the books, but if some things hold true, then I think Lorena's getting a surprise next ep.
Also, was that the preview for just this next episode? Or like, all the episodes until the season ender? It looked like a lot to jam pack into one ep.
The Queen of Louisiana is an idiot.
Also, I still can't watch True Blood without comparing it to that awful fic. XD

D: I didn't even think of this! That would be epic, but I'm pretty sure it's just an ordinary dog-fight. What I'm really hoping is that all this is a set-up by the queen to get rid of the King. I refuse to believe she's really that lame, goddamn it.

| WMG Ahoy!
I am probably insane, but I keep seeing little bits and pieces here and there that make me think Charlaine Harris (who wrote the books) used to write fic in the Buffy fandom. In fact, I think she's this gal. It's little stuff, but they're really specific.
First, Harris has her vampires cry blood. The only other place I've ever seen that done was in the "Masters and Minions" series. The explanation in the fics is that since vampires are dead they can't produce tears. But they've got plenty of blood available.
Next, Harris--and by extension, True Blood--has a vampire use their own blood as a sort of sensory organ. This was another staple of the "Masters and Minions" series. Towards the end of the series, Medea compared this to a spider's web. A spider can feel the slightest touch on a single strand of its web. Similarly, vampires in those fics, and in this series, can feel where their blood is if someone drinks it, and what that person is feeling. (This has interesting implications for people on V, and means Tara is in serious trouble since she drank Franklin's blood.) The treatment this idea gets in both places is very similar.
Last--and this one is the most tenuous and dismissable piece of "evidence" I have--is Lorena's threat to Sookie in this last episode. "I would just love to rip you open and wear your rib cage as a hat." I've seen a very similar threat before in Buffy-fic, too. This one, which is a Buffy/Star Trek fic. At one point Buffy makes the threat to "rip out the offender's rib cage and use it as a magazine rack" if that offender harms Giles. I've seen other, similar threats in other places, so this one isn't exactly solid, but on top of those other two things, it just makes me wonder harder.
I admit it; I'm probably crazy. But what do you think?

I wouldn't use this one. Buffy makes a threat like this in canon to a character called Whistler. See here.

Anne Rice's vampires also cried blood. I suppose if you're talking about your traditional vampire and all they consume is blood, wouldn't all their fluids also be blood? Yes, that means that Bill's *shudder* stuff is blood. Since vamp blood is a drug, it makes me wonder why Sookie's not addicted to it. But wasn't it mentioned in the books somewhere that she was somehow immune to its effects? I can't remember. It has been a while since I've read them.

I've never read Rice, but this theory is looking much more tenuous than before. As to the rest of it...I try very, very hard not to think too much about that.

| Vampire: The Masquerade... the vampires there also cried blood because it was the only liquid in their bodies.
As for the "blood as a sensory organ" idea, well, the idea of blood magic and being able to track by blood has been around for a long time. Again, drawing on V:tM, Thaumatergy allows a vampire to do so, as well as other nasty things.

| Lorena and the Magister both bite it in the same episode?!? Whoo-hoo!
Also, that was basically book three, right? Sookie rescues Bill, he attacks her (three cheers to the True Blood people for skipping the rape bit), she and he break up, and... I've forgotten if there was anymore.

| I was all "WOO HOO! Claudine!!" I love how she was introduced, and it seems they are playing up Sookie's heritage a lot more in the TV series.
I think naked Eric will be next season, since it's the next book.
Does anyone else get the impression that Jesus is perhaps a witch? Or someone with connection thereof? And that is how they are going to introduce witchcraft (and thus book 4) to TB--via Lafayette?
Double WOO HOOing for Tara, who pulled out of her stupid ass funk (and more ridiculous plotline of the 2nd season) and is kicking some major ass this season. I think she grew up more in the last couple episodes alone than all the previous episodes. Also, lol I bet Franklin's not dead. Yeah, his head was crushed, but it's not decapitated and he didn't degrade into goo. Can't wait to see him again and have him be like, "Oh, Tara, you broke my heart when you broke my head. GOD I LOVE YOU YOU CRAZY BITCH."

| Yeah, he's totally going to stalk her more for this. He'll be more convinced than ever they're perfect for each other. (I can just hear Tara: "How many times do I have to kill you?!") Kel, that line wasn't in the book, it's a show addition. We barely saw Lorena in the book. We mostly saw Sookie kill her. I'm loving the royal plot with Russell. He is a badass to the extreme. But he might want to tend to the home fires more. It looks like hubbie dearest (Talbot) might be getting fed up with his husband's ways. I really wanted Russell to let Pam have the Magister. She could have had fun. I liked Sophie-Anne's expression when Russell beheaded the Magister. Her eyebrows just went up like "Huh. That was vaguely interesting." CLAUDINE! I saw Sookie's dream and was like "Fuck, those are faeries." Then the brunette and I was all "CLAUDINE" at the TV, and made everyone else stare at me like I'd lost my mind. | |

| I really love Tara this season. I love the moment of horror that flitted over her face, that slight pause, when she declared Bill dead and Sookie said, "No, vampires look like this when they're dead."
And she kicked Bill's ass out into the sun! GO TARA!
I lol'd heartily at, "Naw, I told you I was done with that stuff! I just need some meth. :D :D :D" God, Jason. There's a shirt I want to buy that says "CONSCIENCE OFF, DICK ON" but I have no idea where the fuck I would wear it or how I would explain it to small children XD.

| Ha! I love that Tara totally freaked out when Sookie told her what vamps looked like when they're dead. And she was so sure she killed Bill, too. As if he was going to just stand there in the sun and die.
Dammit, Tara, learn how to kill vampires! Now Franklin's going to come back and chew on your face.
Also, WHERE WAS JESSICA? I'm only in love with her, and she just WASN'T THERE AT ALL.
I'm glad Pam was saved, YAY!, and, really, it's hilarious that vamps' bodies seem to explode like water balloons filled with blood and guts when they die. Classic.

Other things happened in the episode, but that? NOM. So, so hard.
