| Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It wasn't astoundingly awful in any way, it was just such a completely unremarkable ending that you feel cheated. | |

| But that final boss was a bitch on Hypermode.
Then again, everything was a bitch on Hypermode.
It wasn't so much the ending cutscene. Metroid has never had massive cutscenes and Samus isn't one for giant conversations neatly wrapping everything up. But that whole final planet wasn't very impressive.

TL;DR version: BethSoft basically tried to take the original Fallout games and wrap a little bit of their take around it, and ultimately produced a fun game, even if the end product is as strange and mutated as the Ghouls. ...which were originally a product of FEV. Not just an accident of radiation. But, y'know. Whatevs. Honestly, the very last thing the Internet needs is another conversation about what is and isn't a Fallout game. Needless to say, I liked the game and the DLC, even though I kind of would have preferred the original, tragic ending. The way the main quest ends as of now is nothing but a huge explosion, a pat on the back, and Sarah Lyons telling you that, while you are awesome, she still won't hang out with you or give you command of her squad of badass Brotherhood commandos. Sigh. At least I have Dogmeat . . . .

| I submit that the Internet needs more conversations about what is and isn't a Fallout game between devs of each game, and NONE WHATSOEVER to do with ANYONE from NMA. Good God. But, my post wasn't meant to say that FO3 is or isn't Fallout. My gripe was actually that it's a weird rehash of everything from the first two games, which makes the setting of DC strange (I get why they did it, I'm just not sure they should have) and everything original they did is clumsily executed, like the ending. Kinda like writing fanfiction where you get lost in "Wouldn't it be cool if THIS happened? Oh and I need to reference the source material prequels more" and the end product is just one long, sloppily performed homage. Also, they promised us like eleventy billion endings, and gave us, like, 3. - Spoiler:
The Pitt is super lame if you're a high level (e.g., just finished Broken Steel. >_> ) But I did enjoy an actually challenging moral choice, even if the game still boils it down to Good vs. Evil for you.

| Point Lookout is a major mixed bag for me.
Finally, I have a decent use for all that 10mm ammo I haven't used since I was level 10 or so, but the only new enemys are hillbillies, who can somehow do more damage than my level-25+, tesla-wielding, T-51-wearing bad-ass. (+35 unblockable damage ftl.)
I like the locations, but the quests mostly seemed rather blah to me.

| At level 25+, the 10mm SMG remains a decent sidearm. It's just useless on Overlords.
It just sucks when you've got 100% Small Guns and there are never any new, impressive Small Guns. The Chinese AK, err, Assault Rifle is the best you can do. I mean, I'm lugging around the Hunting Rifle, 10mm SMG, Chinese Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle. It's quite a heavy load.

Find that Sydney woman in the National Archives, and do her quest. Then, you have to track down a note for her, which is in that hotel where you rescue those mercenaries. She'll give you an improved version of the SMG. There's also this, which adds weapon modding kits to the game, so you can improve your guns. Highly recommended.

But yes, the ending of FO3 left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the game though, just... I had the super mutant companion, why couldn't he have gone in, god dammit?!

Honestly, you want to do all the DLC adventures as quickly as possible. You should go straight from the end of Vault 101, collect the Intelligence Bobblehead at Rivet City for extra skill points, then right to the beginning of Operation:Anchorage, since it gives you power armor, a stealth suit, multiple levels, and a shitload of guns and explosives right off the bat. And if you're a pew-pew-lasers guy like me, you'll probably go from there, straight to Mothership Zeta, to shoot aliens with cowboys and samurai. From there, it doesn't really matter, because you're a power-armored badass with thousands of rounds for your alien disintegration rifle.

| Independance War 2: Edge of Chaos ends very abruptly. You can tell a few missions away from the end that they just ran out of time and money. A bizarre plot device that does not at all fit with the setting and style presented thusfar is introduced. It has absolutely nothing to do with the three or so plotlines that have been progressing steadily to, we think, dramatic conclusion for the entire game, only for the instant plot device to steal complete focus and for the actual storyline to be resoundly dropped. The game ends with the instant plot device resolved in just as abrupt a way, if not more-so.
What is this ridiculous instant plot device, you ask? In the middle of a just-starting war between economic classes fighting each-other and the government, plus a great deal of character development for the player-character and his rag-tag band of misfit friends, the leaders of the upper-class activate an alien artifact of doom to use as a weapon against the lower class and the government, only for glowing balls to pour forth and possess the crews of any ship they touch. The final missions boil down to stopping infected ships from making FTL jumps, and then sealing off the player-character's home star-cluster when the next one over is totally lost.

It's like they turned the turning point of a longer game into an ending. TBH I skipped almost every cutscene in that game, so it wouldn't have made much sense to me anyway. What were we supposed to be? Like postmen or something? Worst ending ever - assassin's creed Sure there's a standard epic boss fight, but then you swith back to the future jackass for some slow walking fun AND THEN it taunts you with an epilogue of you escaping only to give you a few hours of reading motherf***ing emails. If I wanted to read I'd pick up a book. (oh snap)

Yyyyyeah, you're pretty much already fucked by the massive amounts of terrible porn, then. Besides, there's a difference between cussing and cursing. That would be the game that ended on a cliffhanger after blowing it's wad on a terrible mid-nineties FMV.
