Movies That are Going to Suck: Part Deux

The only GI Joe (I think it was called Action Force in the UK) I ever saw was part of the Serpentor arc, where he was trying to gather historical artifacts belonging to the people he was cloned from in order to become more powerful or something. It had some pretty wild and wacky stuff in it, most notably the Navy Seal character destroying the giant Cobra mothership (which must have been the size of an aircraft carrier) with one hand grenade. Which he must have hurled from something like a mile away, judging by the scale.

Now imagine EVERY episode being just like that.

The first comic book I ever owned was the GI Joe issue where they told an entire story without dialogue or sound effects, relying on the artwork alone to convey the action.

The only thing I remember about the cartoon was wanting Cobra to win, because they were awesome. Except Cobra Commander. I wanted Destro and the Baroness to kill that squeally coward and take over, because they would have beaten GI Joe, oh yes.

The G.I Joe cartoon was the first time the boys were faced with the quandry of actually preferring the bad guys over the good. Pretty much for the reason you list (Andrew agreed with you 100% that the Baroness and Destro should kill Cobra Commander, because 'He's an idiot.'). And they both agreed the bad guys were just more interesting.

Seriously, Destro is a pimp, Cobra has all the cool vehicles, and GI Joe is full of Village People rejects and guys who think "played pro sports" is a military skill set.

Fun fact: Marvel Comics actually invented Cobra. When Hasbro told them to make a Joe comic series, the Marvel guy looked at the line, noticed they were all soldiers, and asked who they were fighting.

He got blank stares in return.

Cobra was awesome until that Serpentor jackass came into the picture. Lord, how I've always hated him.

I've always liked Cobra Commander, and, oddly enough, even his voice. Chris Latta seriously should have been a metal singer.

Funfact: Originally, Chris Latta was to voice Moe and Mr. Burns on The Simpsons, and even recorded a few episodes until he was replaced at the 11th hour. His name is still in the credits on a few early episodes, in fact, despite his not appearing in the final airing versions. I'm really interested in how that would have been.

Remember Cassandra Claire? Well, she had a book signing today, and announced that her Mortal Instruments series is going to be made into a movie trilogy. There's no press release yet, just a bunch of tweets.
