Yes, this crime is absolutely disgusting, but like most crimes that don't involve technology, it's the sort of thing that has been going on since time immemorial. At least nowadays it's legally and socially *considered* an automatic and heinous crime in most parts of the world.

Ducks do. Dolphins sometimes rape. At times they'll even kill young dolphins, for no apparent reason except pure enjoyment.

And yes, males of many species do kill the offspring of other males. Lions are notorious for it. Tomcats are known to do it, too.

The females of some species will kill their own young if someone touches them and they smell different from the other young in the litter.
