| As we note the passing of one deranged political leader(Kim Jong Il), another is starting to pop back into the headlines with a vengeance. According to Yahoo! News, it seems that a certain evangelical association president in Iowa tried to convince Michele Bachmann not to run for president in the 2012 elections.... - Quote :
- A top evangelical leader in Iowa tried to convince Michele Bachmann to drop her bid for the Republican presidential nomination and back Rick Santorum in the race.
Family Leader president Bob Vander Plaats phoned Bachmann last Saturday to ask her to rethink her 2012 bid in hopes of uniting social conservatives behind one candidate in Iowa.
In an interview with CBS's Early Show, Bachmann confirmed the call, which was first reported by Politico.
"Yes, there was a call that was made," Bachmann told CBS. "But it didn't make sense, because my numbers have always been above those of Sen. Santorum's. It makes no sense for me to drop out."
Vander Plaats publicly endorsed Santorum in a news conference Tuesday, but he emphasized it was a "personal" endorsement. The Family Leader had planned to endorse as an organization, but the group announced it would remain neutral in the race because of disagreements among board members over which candidate to support. If evangelicals can't get behind Bachmann, who shares most if not all of their values, what does that say about her chances of garnering support among the rest of the voting public in America? I'm guessing she won't make it past the New Hampshire primary. Indeed, there's a distinct chance she may not even make it to the New Hampshire primary.

| Telling Bachmann to stop is not really awful news. Endorsing Frothy though? Uhhhhh. Thank goodness nothing will come of it, because hyper-right wingers are thankfully much rarer than one would think from their sheer decibel levels. | |

Maybe not, but I didn't think this thread would fit in the Antidotes or Couch forums. - Saleha wrote:

This belongs in antidotes, I think.

| Irrelevant priest tries to convince irrelevant candidate to back another irrelevant candidate. News at 11. I swear, everyone, including the media, needs to ignore Republican candidates who aren't Gingrich and Romney. The other candidates are pointless distractions. I think the only reason they keep inviting Huntsman to debates is because his daughters are somewhat attractive. They can keep encouraging Ron Paul to talk, however. It's funny. - Chris wrote:

| He wanted her to drop out and back Mr Frothy-mix? The man who has even less charm and warmth than Robot-American Romney?
Now that's crazy. | |

It's good to see you haven't lost your impressive lack of perspective. Her smile is unsettling, isn't it?
