| ...and claims it was because of a Wiccan "blood oath". - Quote :
- A man who was charged Friday with killing his ex-girlfriend earlier
this month asked a friend to drive him around a rural area of Snohomish County so he could dispose of the victim's dismembered body, according to prosecutors.
The friend led police to numerous places around the Reiter Road gravel pit, east of Gold Bar, where the body parts were recovered by investigators, prosecutors said in court documents. Some had been buried and some had been left on the ground, according to court documents. That's.... um, not how you dispose of something. Much less a body. Then again, this guy isn't just vicious, he's dumb as a box of rocks, too: - Quote :
- Eric Christensen, 40, of Gold Bar, was charged in Snohomish Superior
Court on Friday with first-degree murder in the slaying of his 35-year-old girlfriend, Sherry Harlan.
...
Christensen told police the text message was evidence Harlan had broken a "Wiccan blood oath" she'd made to break off a relationship with the other man, prosecutors allege. I... um, I'm pretty sure Wiccans don't do those. - Quote :
- Two days later, a friend of Christensen's called police to say he'd
helped him dispose of Harlan's dismembered body. The friend led police to the places where Christensen had left the remains. Wow.

| Is it bad I'm just pissed that the Catholics will be on this one like Oprah on a Twinkie? I hate to see idiots like this one giving weapons to the fundies. I'd love to ask this guy to describe the major Wiccan holidays and see how many he can name. Does he think that the jury will be easier on him because he's a heathen? Most of the jurors wouldn't tell a Wiccan from a Laveyan satanist from a Neopagan from an otakin.
A guy my husband used to know was killed with a pickaxe to the neck, dismembered with a chainsaw and dispersed in several trash bins around the city (hubbie said it couldn't have happened to a nicer person, BTW). The killer was about to get 17 for non-planned murder, but a clerk remembered he had bought the pickaxe two days in advance and testified, so he got the maximum penalty. I hope this guy rots in jail.

Probably, since Washington State is a predominantly non-denominational state and the Seattle archdiocese is fairly liberal.

Stories like these do get reported in the media in other parts of the world, especially if there's a slow news day and the crime is particularly gruesome. Here we don't care much for professional golf and you'd say Tiger Woods' sentimental troubles would not get reported, but they were. Same goes for OJ Simpson (no one knows which team he played for) and the Bobbitt guy.

I hate to see idiots like this one giving weapons to the fundies. If any fundies jump on it, I would think that they'd likely be Protestant, not Catholic. It's like with Harry Potter: sure, some Catholics have whined about it, but by far the most ridiculous and vitriolic criticism has come from Protestants, most notably the type of Protestants who lump HP in with Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia - as in, they're all OF THE DEEEEVIIIIL.
