Okay, so, as a broke college student wanting to help the people in Haiti (especially in light of yet another massive aftershock rocking them and all the people dead and D: D: D:), I was kind of at a loss, until one of my other forums posted what I'm about to tell you about.
The idea behind Help Haiti, a community on LiveJournal, is to auction off writing, art, beta services, etc. Anyone may enter - you simply have to be willing to draw, edit, or write something. What then takes place is a period where people bet on the 'product' offered. The winner of the auction sends their money to the non-profit organization and chooses what they would like the artist to create. It is a process that is simple enough that anyone who wants to offer anything can do so. A drabble, a sketch, a few thousand words beta'd, even a long chaptered story - anything would help.
The community is here if you'd like to check it out.
And I know we're all a bunch of sour assholes, but I figured I'd spread this here, as we do have some good writers and some good artists on the site who might like to lend a hand.
