Hey, at least they're not terrible singers.

Anyone else think their factory is somehow powered by singing?

That did seem to be the impression the commercials gave.

Thanks to being a John Waters fan and seeing Multiple Maniacs, every time I hear that lollipop song I think of an obese drag queen being sodomized by a lesbian with a crucifix in the front pews of a Catholic church.

I like the "Lollipop" Dell commercials. They sing nicely, and it's a fun song. The commercial is colorful, it's got elephant feet in it, along with a crazy and impossible-but-very-hilarious assembly line... I'm just not seeing the bad here.

The only problem is that the son is even worse. Seriously, the kid's a brat who shouldn't be given any more minutes, ever. Look at the commercial in the car, for example. He asked for minutes, got some, threw them out, and then demanded more. The mother may be obsessive, but her anger's certainly justified. Heck, she could probably reach back and throttle that punk, and she'd get at least a hung jury as long as there are parents on it.
As for the Dell commercial, I like it okay (not enough to get one, though). The song's never been a particular favorite, but I've always been fond enough of it.

Every time I've gone on MSN today, that Progressive commercial lady is staring at me with her soulless eyes; reminding me how much I DESPISE those commercials. I know That Type of person well, and I'm seldom comfortable around any of them.

This commercial is awful! Who wants to be reminded of a poor economy when they want to feel reassured by their insurance company? Usually, these commercials make me feel like I really am in good hands. Now I'm not so sure.

I'd personally say that ad does a good job of what it was trying to do. Sure they're reminding us about the poor economy, but also that it has happened several times in the past and that not only have they as a company made it through them fine, but also that the people have as well. They're stepping up and saying, "This is all gonna work out, so take the time to focus on the important things in life," and I don't know about you but that gets a good message across to me.

The new Taco Bell ad for their "Blackjack Taco." Not only does it not say what makes the product special (what does this new black taco taste like?), it plays like some strange commercial for the latest in European fashions.
Subject: Re: Why, God, why did these commercials get made? Tue Oct 20, 2009 7:27 am
I dunno, I think the commercial is a pretty good send-up of those European fashion commercials. However, the taco itself... when the husband and I first saw that thing, we were like, "So it's black. Whoopee." Unless you can tell me something about its taste, stfu about its appearance.

I like how they "tactfully" avoided using any black actors in that commercial. AWKWARRRDDDDD.

There have been mud-slinging campaign ads for the midterm elections running on one of the local affiliates for about a month. It's not even 2010 yet!

Here, the ads -- almost all completely negative* -- have been coming thick and heavy for a couple months because there are big races next week. We've been bombarded not only with ads for Mayor Bloomberg and his opponent, but also for the New Jersey gubernatorial candidates.
*They're not quite "According to The Daily Fishwrap, Marty McCandidate eats babies!" but some have come close. And the fact that every single assertion is accompanied by the name of a newspaper and a date hasn't stopped the degeneration into, "He's lying!" "No, he's lying!" "Nuh-uh!" "Uh-huh!"

I cannot be the only one frigging annoyed by the commercials for Broadview Security (formerly Brinks Home Security). For those not familiar with the product, let me thumbnail sketch EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR COMMERCIALS.
Young woman is alone at home (If she's a bit older, there's a girl child with her).
Cut outside to an evil doer skulking in the bushes, clearly watching.
Scene of system being activated.
SURPRISE FORCED ENTRY!
Screaming! Alarms!
Intruder flees from the aonslaught of noise.
Helpful Broadview security minion calls in to make sure their client isn't dead.
Think I'm exaggerating?
Perhaps it's just me, but if someone has the intent to break into a home he knws is occupied, alarms are not going to make them instantly flee.

AGGGHHH! GIANT MUTANT BUNNY ATTACK!
Okay, I actually like the Duracell bunny in the ads. He's small and cute and has the cool sunglasses. But this...this is an abomination unto man, and possibly a sign of the End of Days.
