Rick Majerus - longtime NCAA men's basketball coach, most notably with Utah and St. Louis, dead at 64.

Jeff Millar - One half of the creative team behind newspaper comic Tank McNamara and Sports Illustrated for Kids feature Buzz Beaman , dead at 70r.

Marvin Miller - Head of the Major Leage Baseball Players Union for two decades, credited with helping bring true free agency to baseball (and team sports in general in America) and helped turn the Players Union into one of the strongest unions in the country, dead at 95.

Jazz legend Dave Brubeck, dead one day short of his 92nd birthday.

Sir Patrick Moore Astronomer and GAMESMASTER has died at 89.

So...that's why I felt partially dead inside this morning. I've heard of this TV show in Britain, but I had no idea Moore was involved.

How Quincy M.E. put the arm on Orrin Hatch

In the pivotal scene, Quincy confronts the senator in his office and demands that he look out the window. Peering down, the senator sees a huge crowd gathered with signs that read “We Want the Orphan Drug Act” and relents. To shoot the scene, the show’s producers hired 500 extras who really did suffer from rare diseases.

Hatch, too, finally relented. Thanks to Klugman, the Waxman-Hatch Orphan Drug Act became law in 1983.

Yeah, I know some of them are already on here.

I was somewhat surprised to see Leslie Cochrane on the Cracked list, since he was pretty much the definition of a local celebrity. Everybody in Austin knew who he was because he was very visible, but there's little reason why anyone outside the city should've.

And the Yahoo! one really shows why such lists shouldn't be written a week and a half before the year ends. Were they hoping celebrities would just stop dying after the 19th?
