On Monroe: I read a poll a few years back where young women (teens and early-twenties) were asked what they thought of Marilyn... According to the results, the majority of them thought she was "too fat". I don't remember the site and don't have a source though, so I grant you a few grains of salt to take with it if you wish.

I was reading up on it last night (you'd be amazed what you can find on Google), and a lot of it has to do with the fact that a size 12 from Marilyn's day is in no way equivalent to a size 12 from 2010. Dress sizes have gotten smaller over the years, according to most of the articles I've read, so what was considered a size 12 in the 40s and 50s is closer to a size 14-16 now.

Still, the woman was a major sex symbol for her time, and was one of the few woman to pose nude for Playboy that didn't have it negatively impact their career in that era. I think men back then preferred women who didn't look like 12-year--old girls who'd whipped through puberty in 15 seconds.

I think it was Cosmo a few years back that had an article that referenced the idea that she would be considered too imperfect to be in Hollywood now. The author(s) gave her picture to some plastic surgeons to see what they'd do to fix her to meet current standards. Cheek implants, lip work, nose job, implants, liposuction, eyelids, you name it, they'd have suggested it. Kinda scary, really.

Not that I think Jennifer Aniston is hot or anything, but they should at least have some consistency with the bodies.

Or they'd just be cheap and Photoshop it- Playboy (to name one magazine) photoshops everything nowadays and everything looks the same after a while. They'll just airbrush her, and use the liquify tool to make her boobs bigger, and thighs narrower. They'll probably pinch in her waist a bit more, and make her butt bigger.

Too bad the old stuff is so much more fappable than the new stuff. Industry should get a hint, really.
