NaNoWriMo 2010

25k words! Of course, I should have 30K by now. Not sure if I can write 5k more words before going to bed, though.

I started to get really bored with writing, so I decided I had to make it a bit more interesting for myself. Cue crossdressing.

Haven't touched the thing in about two weeks. Starting was a horrible idea and I refuse to beat myself up for dropping it this year.

And now I watch as I fall behind for 2 days because I will have no time to write.

34,444! I'm not dead yet. My characters have developed a notable tendency to stutter and repeat themselves, but I've finally gotten all the wrinkles ironed out of the main conflict, and now that I know what the Evil Plan is it's that much easier to get my characters thrown into the shit. So far, my manuscript contains:

-A flashback to the era of Genghis Khan.
-A flashback to the last days of the dinosaurs.
-A bank robbery being foiled when history is altered to give the four robbers: 1) an aneurysm, 2) a dehydration faint, 3) a seizure and 4) a bad case of pants-falling-down.
-Gratuitous sex scene? Why, yes!
-The abovementioned ruminations on a bloodsucking thunderbird's choice of furniture.
-A Headless Horseman car chase.
-Witch doctors.
-The phrase 'cancer of the magic.'

I still can't believe it's all actually part of a semicoherent plot. Kinda get the feeling that the pharmacists put some crack in my Seroquel last time I got the prescription filled . . .

46,000 words! I was hoping to finish today, but I caught a nasty cold, so it's probably going to be either tomorrow or Sunday. The whole story will probably end up being something around 70,000 words long. I usually write my multi-chapter stories using multiple POVs, which always leads to every POV character having his or her own sideplot, but this time I'm restricting myself to my main character, so it's going to be a relatively short story by my standards.

34,024 and I'm slightly behind where I wanted to be. I think I should be able to finish this with ease, though, so that's good. Just need to keep up the pace.

29,102. I'm only very slightly behind, still manageable and still recoverable.

Got myself over 33000, so I'm finally a little bit ahead. *happydance*

I've just had my first conversation with my characters.

The whole sequence will eventually be cut, when I go in and edit, but it got me over 40K, so I'm not complaining.

Didn't do as much as I wanted, but it was very busy here tonight. 35,412 words.

Done. Now I can start editing the heck out of what I've written so far and try to figure out what to add between numerous scenes to make the pacing at least half-decent.

Thanks, but for some reason I'm not feeling very accomplished. This is the third time I've won but the first time when my story is still this far from complete and needs so much more work. There's still so much to do before this fic can be posted that it doesn't feel like I've accomplished anything out of the ordinary.

Congratulations, VampireNaomi. You have accomplished a lot. Getting those words down is an achievement all by itself.

38,901 words. Not as much as I'd like, but not too bad considering how busy we were all weekend, and I sort of lost my plot for a moment.

Right now I'm at 43,405, and so close to my ending I can feel it! I will be done before Thanksgiving! Because I know, the two days after, I won't have time to breathe, much less write, so I want to get it done as early as possible.

There's still eight days of November left (nine, counting today). We can do it!

Just cracked 40,000 with a loving description of the romantic hero's empty eyesockets. I'll be nowhere near done with the book when all this is over, but I know I can win this year, and it's been hella fun!

I... I had one of my longest chapters written. I finely finished it at 3 in the morning... Then, I copied something else... and without thinking, pasted it over my chapter and clicked save...

Oh, no! I'm so sorry! That's the worst that could happen.

42,852 ... still hanging in there. And I introduced a couple new characters which should help tie the story a bit more together, and give me a reason to expound on why the ZA is happening. Hurrah.

I should be finishing the Nano tomorrow, although the book is not even close to being complete. I'll keep chipping at it, but the big push is over.

I got fucked by the holidays; I worked Thanksgiving AND Black Friday, and now I'm way behind. Just hit 43,000 words. It's gonna be close for me.
