Arizona Passes "Pregnancy Begins 2 Weeks Before Conception" Bill

This is sort of old news, but I thought I should share this.

The thing is, it doesn't matter when you call the cells with human DNA human. A person has the right to not let another person use their body. It's the same principle that prevents our government from forcing people to donate blood.

It a wonder that they've forgotten this, or perhaps they just don't care.

The anti-abortion people are not walking around going "WE'RE GOING TO TELL YOU SILLY WOMEN WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR BODY." They're saying "WE'RE NOT GOING TO LET YOU KILL A BABY FOR YOUR OWN SELFISH ENDS." They don't see it as your body, they see it as the baby's body. Because it IS the baby's body you're killing. If you wanted to get a tattoo, they might call you a fucking idiot, but they most likely won't pass a law against it.

Now, whether that lump of cells counts as human or not, that's another matter. Just TRY to pry your head from your asshole and see where the other side is coming from, if only so you can conceive an argument that isn't stupid.

Yes, they are.

1) They think women are too stupid to realise what "being pregnant" means. That's why they force women to have ultrasounds (sometimes involving probes shoved into the vagina) while a doctor describes the embryo's development to them before they can have an abortion.

2) They're working day and night to hollow out Roe vs. Wade until it's utterly meaningless because they don't think women should have the right to have an abortion. "WAAAAH DE BAAAYBIIEEEES" completely erases the grown human being whose life will be affected by the continuation of an unwanted/life-threatening/non-viable pregnancy. Women have no agency to these people. None.

Not if the person has the ability to chose whether or not they are the life-support system of another life-form. Forcing someone to go through with a pregnancy is a violation of their body-autonomy, like slavery or rape. On the other hand, forcing someone to get an abortion also is a violation of their body-autonomy.

Take this example: you are at the doctor's office, and after getting some sort of blood test the doctor tells you about this man who is in desperate need of a suitable person to act as his internal organs in order to stay alive for a while, and you are a match. If a suitable match doesn't do this for him soon, he'll die, and you are the only person they know of who can help him.

Should a government, a doctor, your family, or anyone else besides you be able to make this decision for you?
Should you be charged with murder if you refuse?
Wouldn't making the choice be between "be charged with murder" or "let them turn your body into a human life-support machine" be akin to not giving you a choice at all?

Ok, let's skip the philosophical discussion of "is a fetus a human life" and the fact that the very idea that we can have this discussion means the government probably shouldn't outlaw abortion...

But yes. Being forced to carry a pregnancy to term is indentured servitude. A bit of a stretched metaphor, but no woman should be forced into the role of government meat sock. No matter how wonderful and special and totally not a pain in the ass being pregnant is for women on TV.
