Can't say I'm the least bit surprised, but I can say that I did like her music.

I found out this morning from a charming Facebook post that could be summed up as "I am so happy she is dead, I thought she was a waste of space and I never liked her music. I am happy the twenty seven curse got her". Of course, it was a lot more gleeful and poorly set out than that.
The amount of bile some people have for public figures they don't like is getting to be frightening. It goes beyond simply disagreeing or having different tastes and into being vicious just because they can, or because they think it earns them 'cool' points.
Poor woman.

I'll take your word for it as I've never heard a song by her. I fail to name a single English band that I absolutely cannot listen to; must be some nation-wide style thing.

I read somewhere that Fergie of the Black-eyed Peas once had too much to drink before going onstage and peed in her pants in front of everyone.
There's a reason why you can't find a recording of Janis Joplin's performance at Woodstock. Jim Morrison showed up at band sessions and concerts at whatever time he felt convenient - usually drunk - and had a tour cancelled after he got himself arrested for trying to pull out Mr.Mojo on stage. Heck, even Mozart managed to piss off the audience - and the lack of injectable drug is probably the reason he made it to the ripe age of 33. The kid would have done it up if there had been any, mature as he was.

Someone on my facebook made that same point, except he called her a shitty slut in the process. Well done, Mikey, for being classier than my RL friends.

I never heard her music, but seriously, the human body can only take so much abuse. Such a waste. And don't bad mouth Janis. Janis was cool. She managed to get off the island.

That might say more about your RL friends than it does about Mikey, unfortunately.
To make this post somewhat on topic, I guess I don't really have any strong feelings about this? I mean, condolences to her family and friends and all, but I don't see how this is more tragic than any other drug addict's death. I liked her songs, but she was hardly in the same category as Joplin or Kobain. Drugs fuck shit up, man...

It's true; you take drugs, you take a risk. She's been in rehab; it's not like she didn't have the money to get good rehab places.
And I feel sad that she brought her own life to an end but in the end... it was a choice she made. Poor girl, poor family and friends, but all in all, this was a serious problem that she tried to overcome, and failed.

I know. I've known this guy for fifteen years or so, and I like him a lot, but some of the things he says make me wish there's a RL Cyberwulf in store for him somewhere down the line.

her death is still yet to be explained, everyone is assuming it's drug-related and it's a fair assumption but it's still that- an assumption

...Being that she was found in her own apartment, if it wasn't suicide or homicide, it's like 99% sure it's the drugs--if not the drugs themselves then a result/complication of them.
Hm, but he was still done in by trying to manhandle a wild animal in it's natural environment, so isn't the species kind of splitting hairs? lol
Edit: And it looks like we may never know.

Retro-soul songstress Amy Winehouse didn't die under suspicious circumstances, a coroner's official said Monday.
Police confirmed later in the day that it's not yet known what killed Winehouse because her autopsy was inconclusive.
While it's never good that someone dies so young...
I've only ever heard one of her songs - "Rehab" - and was not impressed. So I can't join in with the chorus of "major talent, wasted". Neither can I summon up much sympathy for someone who was apparently so hell-bent on self-destruction.

If that's the only thing you're going on, I might agree. Not too fond of that one, myself.

The footage hasn't been released, but he probably wasn't doing anything with the stingray. They're pretty mellow animals most of the time and don't have a reputation, so why bother?

Her voice is great but you can't understand a word she says. I dunno, it's sad she died, but she was a drug addict. I honestly just can't feel bad when you do it to yourself. Not to be heartless, but I just can't/ I hope her friends and family are doing ok.

This before-and-after shot illustrates it well enough, I think. When she was in decent health she was a curvy lady. I just...ugh.

Usually, I'd simply state the facts here. But referring to someone's death with a "lol" revokes any rights to civility.
That being said you ignorant twit, by all accounts, Steve Irwin didn't even know the stingray was there. And nine times out of ten, the stingray would've run rather than attack. AND the stingray hit him with a one-in-a-million shot. AND if Irwin had left the stinger in, rather than instinctively yanking it out, he would've - at a minimum - lived to reach a hospital and probably would've survived.
So if you're going to be a jackass about someone's death, at a bare minimum, get your facts straight. And maybe leave off the "lol." (Classy, BTW.)
