Once the pair were inside, the man —identified by authorities as Jason Bush — told Flores, "Don't take this personal, but this bullet has your name on it," Gonzalez testified Tuesday.

According to testimony, Bush shot Flores, then Gonzalez. Gonzalez was hit in the shoulder and leg and slumped to the floor. She testified that she played dead as she heard Bush pump more bullets into her husband as Brisenia woke up.

"Why did you shoot my dad?" the girl asked, sobbing, according to Gonzalez's testimony. "Why did you shoot my mom?"

Gonzalez said she heard Bush slowly reload his gun and that he then ignored Brisenia's pleas and fired.

Oh, apparently Forde had Gonzalez's jewelry with her after she was arrested for this. Hmmm. That would seem to destroy her credibility as to not being in the vicinity of the Gonzalez home when the crimes took place.

In other words, ARIZONA

The Minutemen were already an embarrassment of stupid. But they kept getting away with it because stupid people sympathized with them.

Let's see them explain this one away. I'd really like to see how they manage to portray a bitch who murdered a family because they were the wrong race (Apparently, her jewelry wasn't though) as a misunderstood American defending her homeland. I'd really, really like to see how they put a positive spin on a monster of a man who looked a child in the eye, heard her plead for her life, then shoot her point blank.

And then I'd like to see them spend the rest of their sorry lives in a 9x9 cell for the rest of their lives. Alone. Give them some time to think about Brisenia and her dad and her mom. Lots of time.

Because it's insanely difficult to convince Americans that we have terrorist-like and subversive groups here and that they're a significant threat. No, no, apparently it's only crazy foreigners with different religions who can be terrorists. And groups like the Minutemen, who pass themselves off as a group that "protects" Americans from said crazy foreigners, aren't going to be suspect EVEN IF they get caught doing atrocities like this. They'll somehow manage to separate these two people from the group as a whole, playing them as renegades who "just lost the real mission of the Minutemen."

Except that, as the article says, the main group had no part in this and had even reported this woman to the FBI. Blame them for all the things they actually do -- and there are plenty -- but this one wasn't them.


Also, one thing to keep in mind, and this applies to just about any of these threads where the people are on trial. Everything the defense attorney says is aimed toward one goal: getting his client off. That's his job. And if that means spewing a bunch of BS at the press, then BS he will spew (even if he doesn't buy a word of it himself). It's not a reflection of society; it's just old-fashioned hokum.

I don't know how it is in the backwards Europoor hell hole that you live in, but in Glorious Americaland we have protected rights. One is the right to a fair trial. Now, I call bullshit on the attorney's claim that some anti-rightwing zealotry in Arizona (a fairly center/right state) is going to make it impossible for him to receive a fair trial there. But if that were actually the case, he'd have to right to have it held elsewhere. Where he would have the same charges and possible sentencing as he would have in Arizona.

I admit I'm an ignorant European, but it's absolutely incredible to me that the federal government or even the state government allows a group like that to exist. Is that not vigilantism?
