A live action movie? No, the closest was Spirits Within, and that was CGI. 40 FF titles? No, even with all the spin-offs, it's still probably no more than 20.
and I mean a big-budget hollywood release, not some LARP/Fanfic thing.

Disney is really pumping out the sequels; so hard they've started with the midquels if a film is popular enough, and sometimes even when it isn't. Hell, they've started using TIME TRAVEL as an excuse for a sequel (Cinderella III). Forget a few decades, in a few years we'll be seeing THIS:

Harley you stoopid. Since Lasseter took over the company, he's demanded a stop to the direct-to-video sequels.

Sad to say I would actually watch the FF9 movie if they made one.

But... I don't think it would work as anything but cel animation, and at the moment it's all about the CG.

Don't worry, we can watch it together and be upset at how Freya gets little to no love after the first 1/3 yet again.

Actually...if they DO make a FF9 live action movie, expect Michael Flaterty(sp?) to play Freya.
You all know why...and it is one of the reasons I wanted to MiST the FF9 script.

Nope she was a girl, Andy is just making a rather stupid joke aimed at the dancing at Clayra. Which, if he was half the Master he claims to be, he would know was a wonderful homage to the dancers you used to find in the inns back around the SNES era.
Why yes Freya is my second Favourite FF9 Character, why do you ask?

AH yes...I remember those dancers. Like the one that turned Cecil into a @!#?@! TOAD!!!
But still...seeing them Riverdance in Cleyra was a hoot. Could you imagine how that'd translate in a live action movie?

Considering what Freya is she would prolly have to be CGI, so rather well, also it's A) Plot relevant and B) Leads into a very fun part of the game. C) Could be quite beautiful if done right.
I will brook no comments about how an FF9 move could be anything other than awesome!

I was going more on a recent interview with Shia Lebouf (or however you spell it), in which he stated that he felt Harrison Ford was too old to be playing the part of Indiana Jones any more. Apparently, they're trying to pitch a new movie to him (and want Shia to be in it), and he says Harrison doesn't want to do it either.
I agree. There are very few people who can continue to play believable action heros when in their early 60s. The only person I can think of right off the top of my head who actually did it well was Sir Ian McKellan, and he was playing someone much much older than he actually was.

Yeah, I figured something of the kind, but I'd been thinking about those "Old Indy" wraparounds from The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (which Lucas had dumped when he converted the whole thing to a bunch of two-hour movies), in which the ninetysomething Indy (played by George Hall with an eyepatch) was living with his daughter and her family, including apparently a teenager named Spike.
Come to think of it, I guess this means Shia's played a Spike (but not really) and the uncle of a Spike (but, again, not really).

My Professor(who wrote the screenplay for the original) recently asked me how many sequels there were. There's a Land Before Time: XVII (17 for those of you who can't read Roman numerals) in pre-production ....... D:
