Actually, I was referring to the default stance a court of law has to take in any given case, to insure that the innocents aren't found guilty, not saying that the perpetrators were innocent.

Unfortunately it also allows bad guys to get away, if there isn't enough decisive evidence or, like you said, prosecution has done fucked up.
