I was having a discussion on 4Chan about whether or not "defecating" in the direction of either the officers or doctors would have constituted assault.

The general consensus was "Who cares?  Totally worth it." STARMIE uses WATER GUN!

Also, apparently this fellow had a long history of drug related arrests and whatnot (most of which he skated on), and they had brought a dog to sniff the car and the dog "alerted," or some such shit.  So if we ignore the fact that a drug dog Constitutionally shouldn't be allowed to be a witness as one can't cross examine the goddamn creature, the warrant MIGHT have been quasi-legitimate.

However, the search was conducted outside of the county the warrant was issued for, past the time it was issued for.

Adding insult to injury, the hospital is billing Eckert for the procedures and is threatening to take him to collections.

Oh, and the dog? Gets it wrong a lot and hasn't been certified since 2011.

We don't know how much of that will go to his lawyer. It doesn't tell us whether any of these cops were remotely punished for it, and there is no reason to assume they were.

What it DOES tell us is that people supposedly serving the public victimized said public, both individually in the case of this man, and in a broader sense by passing the burden to the taxpayer. That $1.6 million isn't going to come out of the wallets of the police. There are so many unmitigated consequences from their actions that I don't even know where to begin.

If he wins his suit against the hospital, chances are the settlement or awarded money will come from malpractice insurance, and we all know what a clusterfuck that is in our health care system. Treatment at that hospital just got a lot more expensive.

There are no winners here. Well, except the cops and doctors, they get to keep doing what they're doing.

Well I, for one, am glad tat at least someone was found guilty of massive wrongdoing in this case. I was afraid that the police would manage to convince a jury that what they did was "in the public's best interests."
