Like 10 months ago, I joined a game on FB called Horse Academy. It seemed harmless enough, you created a horse and raced it. Then you could breed your mare(if that's what you had) and got a foal to sell or race or breed back to its mother(if it was a boy) and get moar babieez. You could earn horseshoes and money to buy stuff and more horses. You could play and have fun without spending real money. The creator/owner was always available for a chat. Good times.
The game has since grown and expanded and so has the batshit of its fandom. I thought it was fun to have a mare and a stud and create a bloodline of sorts. You can put a little moniker by the horse's name so everyone knows that it's your horse. However, people are crazy over lineage, bloodlines, speed, ect. You'd think that real thoroughbreds were involved. The forums have exploded into constant wank over whose horses are better, who's bloodlines are the best, and the worst offense of all: "zomg! some tard stoled my brand!!bastard!!" Then there was what I politely refer to as creditgate. HA owners decided to go with Facebook credits for purchasing of special items. This negated the horseshoes and FB credits are more expensive than the other credits. Also, you cannot breed "specials"( horses with unusual coloring or themes) without purchasing "vitamins" which cost lots of FB credits. This has caused the forums to explode, the moderators to declare war on humanity, and many snorts from my peanut gallery. Now, the game is more compligated than ever.
I reiterate, it's a game on Facebook. Facebook. A free game on Facebook. I stopped playing because it has since become too complicated, too expensive, and rather boring. There's no real way to truly start a lineage and keep proper track of it. Once someone buys your foals and you didn't meet the "10 friend" referral requirement to make your brand permanent, the name can be changed and the brand removed. So there really is no point to starting lineages.
However, those that do seem to lack in the life department and spend enormous amounts of time hyper-breeding and logging their years-worth of "bloodlines". It's slightly creepy and I wonder who's watching the children they claim they have.
To those on here that might play it and like it, no offense, it's just not my cup of tea anymore. I do hope you're having fun though. Good luck.
