| I know, Randall Terry (formerly head of Operation: Rescue) doesn't need to do much to demonstrate this. But even this is a bit much. He intends to challenge President Obama in the 2012 Democratic Party Primary. Story - Quote :
- Randall Terry, a veteran leader of the anti-abortion movement, announced Thursday he will challenge President Barack Obama for next year's Democratic presidential nomination.
The move is designed to provide a platform for Terry's strong social views, and his candidacy is expected to be little more than a sideshow before Obama squares off against the GOP in the general election.
Terry, the founder of Operation Rescue, called Obama "an arch-promoter of child killing."
"Even if I get 35 or 40 percent of the vote in Iowa, that will be a massive embarrassment for Obama," he said. 1) Iowa is a caucus state. So there are no "votes". 2) Iowa Democrats are more conservative in general, but they aren't pegging the meter. So forget about getting 35-40% of this mythical vote. Terry'd be lucky to get 5%. 3) After Lyndon LaRouche tried to do this same thing during the 1996 elections, the Democratic National Committee rewrote their rules to say that anyone running for the Democratic nomination must be a "bona fide Democratic candidate", and anyone who isn't would not be allowed to participate. So why is he doing this? - Quote :
- Terry has also announced his intention to try to air television ads showing aborted babies during the 2012 Super Bowl and throughout the primary season.
He figures that if he's a declared major party candidate, then he has the right to demand the networks air these commercials under the guise of "political speech". I would suggest whatever attorney is giving him this advice is either an idiot or deliberately setting Terry up. Networks have always had the right to reject political ads they find too controversial. And ads depicting graphic images are especially targeted and tossed. In other words - Randall Terry, what an idiot. | |
