Baby dies after mom stuffs a Bible into her mouth

In a statement Mrs Lovemore gave to police some time after her arrest she tried to explain her memories of that day.

She said: 'I sat in my bedroom and I was ripping pages out of my Bible. I
put some small bits of paper in Faith's mouth and she spat them out.

'For some reason I sat on her, I was crying. I was bouncing on the bed. I don't know why I was sitting on her. I got bi-polar.'

Apparently this whole thing was a perfect storm of both parents' mental disorders, their off-the-wall religious beliefs, and the mental health services not being used or not really being effective in the situation. Pretty horrible situation.

I've heard of fundies shoving their beliefs down your throat, but this is ridiculous!

And people say the Bible doesn't hurt anybody.

I think sitting on the kid probably did more damage than the bible pieces...

It's tragic regardless.

I think it has more to do with the mother's mental illness than with her religious beliefs. If she was an atheist, it might have been pages from Twilight. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

If it had been pages of Twilight, shoving them down her throat wouldn't have been necessary. Simply threatening a night-time story would do the trick.
