...the problem is that I still can't afford it, even though I'm a "middle class" American. Even though I'm making above the average wage for my area, if I were to cut out all the varied extras I buy every month, I wouldn't even come close to being able to afford health insurance.

Socialism, Communism, Fascism, Nazism... These are words that have lost nearly all meaning.

Most of the people using those words have no idea what they actually mean.

Also, am I the only one who went BWA-HA-HA when CNN and Faux News prematurely reported Obamacare struck down? Faux News didn't surprise me--they hate Obama and really, really, really wanted Obamacare to fail, but CNN is usually a bit more responsible about getting the facts.

I'm with Max on this. I'm self employed and can barely scrape by now. The fine... er tax... for not participating looks to be a mere fraction of what it would cost for me to get coverage that I can't afford in the first place.

There also seems to be this assumption that everyone wants to live forever that I'm finding somewhat distressing. I wish to go out somewhat like my mother did. The total medical expenses during her last six months before the cancer finally got her was $405. $400 for a wheelchair and $5 for aspirin. Mere existence, without quality of life, has little attraction for me.

I have decent insurance with my employer that really is only about 15 a month, but I missed the enrollment date so while I am supposed to have it, I can't officially get it until January. It will be good for me so I can get my fucking ankle x-rayed. And like, tranny shit

@Ghost, it appears that if you can't possibly afford insurance (I surely can't), then there are things to help you get that insurance. It's not going to be like car insurance, where if you can't afford it, you are SOL.

I wonder how many of these guys are serious: People Who Say They're Moving To Canada Because Of ObamaCare. I just can't tell...

I may be poor, but I don't ask charity of anyone. If I can't afford something, I'd rather do without than take money from those who really need those funds. I'd say more, but I have to get ready for work now.

I'm not even going to pretend to understand how this is going to play out.
