2009 Reaps On: Former NFL MVP Steve McNair found dead

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has died.

McNair, 36, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville, police spokesperson Don Aaron confirmed. A female victim was also found dead, he said.

"I don't have any answers for you now as to what's happened, who's responsible," Aaron said.

And the scuttlebutt coming out says "murder/suicide".

God. Dammit.

You know what's really sad? My first thought was:

'At least he didn't take out an innocent child with him like Chris Benoit did.'

I spent most of his career loathing him. Now that he had retired, I was just starting to like him.

Also, he could beat up Michael Jackson.

My thoughts exactly. The girlfriend must have been seriously whacked out to do what she did.

Great; so instead of another Chris Benoit we have another Phil Hartman.

McNair's death has been officially ruled a homicide.

They haven't officially ruled either way on the girlfriend, but it looking more and more like "Murder/Suicide" is going to be the official ruling.

It seems like he was a nice guy who loved playing football and wanted to be a good role model for kids. It's a shame he had to go out this way. Too many sports heroes are jerks. McNair seems like he was a class act on and off the field. He sure loved his boys. RIP, Steve.
