Yeah, this thing's a disaster (to the point where the treasurer of the PAC who paid for it is openly denouncing it, the Republican candidate who it supposedly is trying to help is denouncing it, and the backlash is reaching "George 'Macaca' Allen" proportions).

Of course, the guy who came up with the idea is accusing liberals of playing the race card, of being hypocrites because a "viral video showing Sarah Palin dancing around in little booty shorts" wouldn't raise such a fuss, and that his facts are accurate.

Of course, this isn't the first stupid political commercial this guy's made. He's also made this one, this one, and this one.

I would almost say I approve of this video; if only for the troll factor of it. I would applaud making the candidate looking so utterly incompetent by letting that on air, but my sense says that some people would actually believe what is being said.

Actually, I can see a certain kind of rationality in offering some gang members lower sentances for assisting with communicating with small gangs. Wouldn't work for big gangs, but it might work for the petty gangs. It might help, or it might not, but it's worth a try.

As for using taxpayer money? EVERYTHING the government does uses taxpayer money. Sure, it could be used against her in their campaign.

But this campaign? Insinuating Janice is some sort of demon, whore and strip-dancer, using black rappers to suggest that the first thing they'll do when they get out of prison is grab a gun and start shooting? And packing her ass with bills? Suggesting they are the ones threatening her, rather than it being her decision? I wonder whose money payed for that shitty campaign?

Also, I wonder how much they paid those rappers to do that song? Because damn it's fucking racist. They just pretty much alienated the best part of the black population of LA with it.

And worst of all, the goddamn music is STUCK IN MY HEAD.

God damn, they're basically saying, "I can't think of a good reason you should vote for me, but here's the only reason I can think of not to vote for her." Not am I now more inclined to vote for her thanks to the racist smear campaign of her opponents, she's the only candidate I currently know anything about.

The rationale is that gang members who just get out of jail are otherwise unemployable. Let's face it, if she hadn't hired them, they'd have gone right back to shooting people up. The fact that she also hired them to talk people out of joining gangs is perfectly logical: they're exactly the kind of people most likely to actually convince kids, because they've been there and done that, and with experience comes authority. Personally, I think this kind of campaign should be comended, not condemned. She put the tax payers' money to good use--certainly to better use than if they'd been used to raid houses and accidentally kill who knows how many dogs and small children.
