Fandom Secrets

For those of you not in the know, Fandom Secrets is like PostSecret, only the "secrets" are all hastily cobbled together in MS Paint and relate to fandom, as the name would imply. I can't believe this forum lacks a thread for it. Or maybe there is one lurking around somewhere and I'm stupid (it's happened, okay?).

Also, this is the internet. There is at least one person out there to whom these apply. It's not an unfair assumption to make that they are the poster.

You should check out Sim Secrets. It's like this, but more fighting between the posters.

And yes, I read both sites every week just for the laughs.

My squee for "Hanna is Not A Boy's Name" got magnificently harshed today when I read Fandom!Secrets.
And I felt really, really bad because the haters had good points.
And then I went and stared at the wall for awhile and felt guilty for liking fap-material. There was lots of Neutral Milk Hotel involved and ba[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The picture in my signature came from an old Fandom Secret I posted. I haven't read anything on there for so long though - also, the Lolita Secrets communities are so much more hilarious when it comes to dramu.

Not having read Fandom Secret yesterday, I just had hurry over to fandom secrets to see this.

D: Today I learned that most of Fandom Secrets apparently thinks asexuals don't exist. Or there's at least a hell of a lot of ignorant people in the comments section.

That might be technically correct, as 'anorexia' simply refers to a lack of desire to eat (it's described in animals), but somehow I don't think that's what they meant. There's also a word for people who don't have sex despite having the desire, so there's no need to try and be clever by making asexuals out to be both obsessed with sex and terrified by it. Also they'd have to be having some sex, since anorexics do eat.

Actually, what they meant is that asexuals suffer from this. Speaking as an asexual, they can DIAF.

You know...I saw Inception a couple weeks ago and I have to confess, I don't get the homoerotic subtext all these folks are getting out of it. Yeah, yeah, the one line "Don't be a afraid to dream bigger, darling" (or however it went) That guy (Mr. Eaves? Sorry, I kind of don't remember the character names) just seemed kind of foppish anyway so...Yeah. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The ironic thing is I'm primarily a slash writer, so if there was subtext I think I would have seen it and gotten a good giggle out of it. Who knows, maybe I was just too busy trying to follow the plot to notice.

Oh, so apparently sexual anorexics are in fact sex addicts who are afraid of intimacy and cannot maintain any non-sexual aspect of a relationship. Yeah, I can see how you'd confuse them with people who don't have sex and are not interested in doing so. Also, since the article vaguely defines sexual anorexia as a fear of intimacy rather than a fear of sex, you can be both asexual and a sexual anorexic. Automatic association of sex with intimacy, lol.

I know, right? I didn't see anything slashy at all :/ And yet there are people in the comments going "omg borderline-canon!" and I'm like... wut. What movie were you watching?

The same one they're watching every other time. Two hot guys so much as glance at each other, and suddenly they're in a "canonical" romance that trumps whatever explicitly-stated relationships they had onscreen.

No no no, you're going about this all wrong. View it all from a perspective of a (more-)hormonal(-than-thou) 16-year old girl.

In Inception, it felt more like Mr. Eames was screwing around/playground flirting with Arthur, not out of sexual attraction (Though I wouldn't blame him because he's damn drool-worthy), but out of need-to-aggravate. Arthur was pretty straight-laced, and Eames just seemed to get a kick out of teasing him.

I didn't even see all that much teasing, tbh. I don't think anybody got much characterization except Leo's character.

It's not like I have a problem with people wanting slash, whether it makes sense or not, I just think it's really, really weird that they managed to see subtext in Inception. Outside of the trick kiss Tommy and Juno (I have trouble catching movie character names the first time through, okay) didn't have anything, either.
