Oh, please, Mikey. When the first world record gets broke, no one will care how lame the logos/mascots/whatevers were anymore. And yes, I said "gets broke" on purpose.

I think I wouldn't mind the tower so much if it actually was a rollercoaster.

Mikey, I think most Londoners are in favour of never having Olympics again. Between all the humiliating mascots and transport "improvement works" (read: closing most of the Tube every weekend) and the prospect of more tourists showing up... argh.

And the tower is interesting, I don't quite know what to make of it. Looks like some scrunched up a bunch of metal writing and pulled out a few bits and then set it on a stand.

I'm still undecided on these two, but given how unpopular Izzy was and -- Lembech aside -- still seems to be, it's a bit odd that they're going in pretty much the same direction here.

Seriously, though, why are there mascots in the first place? Why do we need mascots? And why are this year's so horrifying? I don't know what it is about them, but they terrify me. Deeply.

Actually, the names are supposed to have something to do with the olympics.

The mascots are supposed to appeal to children and get them interested in sports.

Obviously this is so that they can be made into toys and sold.

I'm not disagreeable about having mascots but those things just creep me the hell out.

Stop being silly. The logo isn't Lisa Simpson sucking off "a dude"; she's sucking off Bart.

Not to mention the £100+ extra in Council Tax (local taxes) per year, for the next 25-30 years, that every Londoner has to "fork out", so to speak, in order to pay for it...
