The hate mail was about Easter being evil or some such nonsense. I don't know if you people got the memo, but Easter was last week. Why hand these out now?
At least they didn't attack the Walk directly, like they did last time. Easter is evil?

At least they didn't attack the Walk directly, like they did last time. Easter is evil? Probably the usual fundie crap about how a Religious Holiday has been taken over by secularism...blah blah blah. Kind've like 'The War on Christmas,' except with less pulpit pounding, because Easter isn't nearly as big a holiday as Christmas. Though why they'd be sending out the hate mail the week AFTER Easter makes no sense. Unless whoever was in charge of the campaign didn't get the memo till it was too late. Actually, now that I think about it, I saw a message on the signboard of the local Lutheran Church that said "Silly Rabbit, Easter is for Christ!" I don't think I've ever seen a church here in town post anything of that sort regarding a minor religious holiday, so there's a possibility the stupidity is spreading.

No, Easter is time for the Rabbit to stuff herself with jelly beans. And I'm not sharing them with Jesus. He smells weird.

What gets me is that growing up, my family celebrated the secular parts of religious holidays as well as the religious. We got Easter baskets on Easter (we also dyed eggs and had Easter egg hunts during Sunday School class). I believed in Santa Claus till I was finally disabused of the notion by one of my elder siblings, and we put up the tree and decorated, but we also went all out with a Christmas play and the nativity scene. I seem to remember my father once remarking that the use of rabbits and chicks and eggs was simply a way of celebrating the coming of Spring, which tied into Christ's resurrection. We also held church Halloween parties. As near as I know, none of us grew up to worship Satan (well, my brother Chris went through a phase when he first went away to college), but gave it up when he realized that he was still worshiping a being he didn't believe in. Also, I think he was trying to get a rise out of my dad (good luck there-my father was probably the most laid-back Pentecostal minister I ever met in my life-the older I get, the more I'm beginning to wonder if he didn't have new age leanings long before anyone'd ever heard of them)
