| I'm working on a Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice fanfic at the moment, and much further down the line I'm planning to introduce Iris Hawthorne as a (character) witness. Several years after 3-5 she's done her time and is now working as a prison nurse.
What I want to know is whether the following scenario sounds in-character for her:
Iris encounters the victim of Apollo's latest case about two months before he's murdered, in the prison hospital. After talking (and listening) to him for a while, and looking at his chart, she comes to the conclusion that the treatment he's receiving isn't helping him. She also has a feeling that the chief medical officer and the prison psychologist aren't all that interested in helping him get well. They seem to just prescribe tranquilisers, which make him easier to manage but aren't tackling the root cause of his behavioural problems.
Iris thinks she can help him. Without saying anything to her superiors, she prescribes a different, more appropriate medication, and agrees to meet with him to try and give him some counselling and help him come to terms with some of his demons.
If it strikes you as OOC for Iris to do something that she knows is wrong in the hope of doing good/preventing a greater wrong, given the events of 3-5, I can change it up a bit (probably by making the psychologist more sympathetic and willing to listen to her). But this scenario would neatly answer a lot of questions in the fic.

| That seems very in-line with her 3-5 characterization, to me at least. She's been established as firm in her convictions and willing to take steps to make things right, and her character growth (the little there is to glean from the games) seems to focus on her gaining the ability to stand up and take action.
I've only read the very beginning of the fic so far, btw, but I still intend to plunk myself down some evening and read all you've got written.

I was hoping you'd reply to this, because she's your favourite character That's great, I'll run with this scenario. It won't be cropping up for quite a while but it's better if I work it out now, just in case I need to foreshadow/drop clues. - Quote :

Thanks. There's no rush, take your time.

| Okay, I have some other questions, somewhat related to the first one. This patient Iris is working with winds up murdered. Would it be in-character for her to follow the case? And if certain details emerged that made her think that her prescribing the victim different medication without telling anyone contributed to his death, would she: give herself up to the police right away talk to the prosecutor first talk to the defense first keep quiet about it at first, trying to reason it away Or would she do something else? | |

| Has someone else been accused of the man's murder? Because she might talk to the defense fist if she thought some else might be taking the fall. Maybe. I am not really sure. | |

Yes, absolutely. They'd be about one or two days into the trial and investigation.

| I think, if either is (even tangentially) involved with the case, she'd talk to Phoenix as a first choice and Edgeworth as a second. I don't think she'd cover it up, but immediately turning herself in seems a little... melodramatic for Iris. So my guess is she'd talk to the people in law enforcement whom she trusts. | |
