No, but a voucher system wouldn't work in Nevada because we are too sparsely populated.

It might work in a place like Las Vegas, or Reno.

But most of our towns are the kind of places where the term "jerkwater" comes to mind. Heck, the town I work in has a total population of around 2,200 people. It has one elementary school, one middle school and one high school. And there are towns even smaller than that. There are places in this state where you can literally drive for a hundred miles before encountering another sign of human habitation.

Is a private school really going to want to set up shop in places where the sagebrush outnumbers the people?

Coming from a large city that has Catholic schools, I would say that they would die rather quickly. The private schools are dying in large cities; there is no way that they would survive in most of Nevada.

Not content with screwing up the education system, today Governor Gibbons announced that he is looking for a way to drop the state out of Medicaid.

Despite having over 200,000 people statewide in the program. And not articulating how the state intends to help them should this cockamamie scheme go through.

He is up for re-election in November, and given that most STD's are more popular than he is doesn't seem to spell victory for him.

Unfortunately, we must wait until then because the legislature is adjourned until next January (the legislature only meets in odd-numbered years) and the governor can dictate the agenda if he were to call them into special session.

You don't have to be rich to go to a private school. There are plenty of church-run ones that subsidize the schools so tuition is low.
