Except he's military. It's actually really hard for active duty to get custody of young children, even partial, because of their situation.

Not saying he's not partially responsible in this particular situation. He totally is because he clearly knew something was up and didn't have his daughter forcibly removed from the house. He was neglectful, and he has plead guilty to it.

They should force her to clock in 15 hours of gold farming a day as punishment. It works for the Chinese.

Well, I don't know about the Sueing for custody thing but From 1993 - 2007 single parent familys in the US were largely women

So even if alot of the men who go back and really really push to get the kids out of the divorce after the fact get them these people would seem to be the minority and it would seem that women tend to get handed the kids out fo the gate more often than men.

I meant, to other countries.

The first problem is that women STILL have less status than men. That's not just in China either.

The second problem is that you're only allowed one child in China.

The third problem is that in a lot of the outlying regions of many Asian countries, dowries are still in effect; ie paying somebody to marry your daughter. You'd think that with the current shortage they'd be the other way around.

Still, you gotta admit it's definitely an effective way to deal with overpopulation... kill off women, who can only give birth about every 9 months and have a limited number of eggs anyway, and keep the men, who can, purely metaphorically, 'give birth' multiple times a day.

They just don't get sold, but often times kidnapped. Bride kidnappings happen a lot in western/north western parts of China. It's not just unmarried women who get kidnapped either.

North Korean women trying to escape over the North Korea/China border have also been forced to marry Chinese men who can't find Chinese wives. I met a woman who escaped North Korea twice and a Chinese family once before getting out of China over the Mekong River. She lives in Seoul now, I think.

It is a wonderful thing, which makes it a shame that your link has none. I don't mean to wail on you because it could be that mothers do indeed get their children off the bat more often than fathers. But it could also be that fathers tend to up and abandon their spouse and child more than mothers do. You can't draw conclusions about causal effects just with data like the ones you linked to.
