"Hate a ceratin canon HP pairing? Perhaps you may enjoy this fic we wrote that centers on that pairing!"

Okay, the thing about this fic is that its authors had/have this lovely little habit of promoting it on an HP fan forum everywhere and every time so much as the names of the two leads were mentioned (the fact that one co-author is a mod there ceratinly doesn't help). Always with "if you didn't like this pairing, you'll love it in our fic" (except of course in the gushing thread for that pairing). All that obnoxious over-promotion of the fic put me off of ever actually reading it even if I had been interested. Not to worry, the more vocal and obnoxious of the co-authors (who, again, can't get in trouble because their partner is a mod) told me all I or anyone who would be creeped out by Lupin/Tonks and the few who don't even support Lupin/Tonks for the sake of a ceratin fanbrat-glorified sprog's existence need to know.

Neither of those is a plus. Also, as mentioned earlier there are fans who are still squicked by the very idea of Tonks being pregnant by Lupin to begin with, even if it is canon (and fans who don't put the canon sprog on that very undeserved pedestal the rest of the HP fandom does thus aren't willing to overlook that essential aspect of his existence).

As if someone who hates the pairing is going to read a fic knowing that. In fact, "much more detail" for a pairing I didn't like to begin with would have the opposite effect on me at least as far as reading fics goes.

Yeah, surfing. The ultimate "youthful" stereotype (well, maybe not the ultimate but still). And where are the Men in Black to erase the image of Remus Lupin surfing (with or without his grossly mismatched "mate) from my mind?

All that said, I hate myself for promoting it all the more (but then again I'm not trying to convince everyone how great it is), but here it is. "Lord of the Werewolves", it's called.

We get it. You don't like Lupin/Tonks. Jesus Mary and Joseph. Is this actually a GAFF or are you just throwing yet another hissy fit over a pairing you don't like?

Someone didn't read the whole post, nor actually got a good view of my post history. "Heero Potter" (a Golden Oldie I reminded everyone of) did not contain R/T and I still hate it. The other crossovers I mentioned on the relevant Tropes thread did not contain R/T and I still hate them. I didn't even mention R/T in those posts.

Yes, it's actually a GAFF, if just for the surfing parts (there are other ways to emphasize Tonks's youthfulness without resorting to this stereotype and seriously, Lupin surfing?).

And my so-called "hissy fits" are nothing compared to the authors advertising the fic the way and as often as they did.

No-one gives a fuck about your personal vendettas, asshole. Show me, a non-Harry Potter fan, why this fic is objectively bad.

It's hardly Pierre's homework to read up on your post history, but as it happens, I have read a few of your posts in the last few days, and I did read all of this one, and my reaction was, wait for it; "We get it, you don't like this pairing". Are you honestly presenting something as GAFF that you haven't read a single word of? Admittedly, Lupin and Tonks going surfing sounds pretty idiotic, but if that's all you have to say about it, take it over to the "godawful summaries" thread.

Also, while I would like to distance myself from Cy's name-calling, I do agree that you seem to be on a bit of a crusade, here.

It's not that bad. Not that great. But not that bad. At least the authors have done their homework, have avoided self-insertion, and are not writing miserable freaking prose.

The HP fandom has a pretty high bar on "bad." Even the self-insert crossover with *Twilight* are just standard. I need to see something that involves necrophilia, or maybe Draco getting religion (both classics, and I think both reviewed here.)
