| You know, I thought my blatant Cyberwulf baiting was obvious, but apparently I have to slap all over anything I post that's deliberate and heavy handed trolling or else I risk everyone thinking I'm genuinely crazy. This is what I get for not using a sock. NOW THAT WE HAVE NO MORE PUNCHING BAGS WHO AM I GOING TO BOTHER. LOOK AT WHAT WE'VE DRIVEN ME TO. ;_; | |

- There wasn't a lot of bullying in our hazing. We were all too nice to actually bully anyone who got a little freaked out. One girl was shy and begged us not to make her sing in the hallways, so we, you know, didn't.
I don't get the minds of the hazers we see in papers. How is that shit funny anymore? I feel for the girls who went hrough this. It'll probably put them off school groups for awhile, which is a shame. Not to mention the public humiliation, because now the whole school knows. Pretty much this. ( anecdote portion begins here) We did have a two-part induction for our new members in marching band. The second bit was races across the tops of the bus seats, which everyone had a lot of fun with (after all the newbies were done, the vets would often jump in just for fun). But the first part consisted of packing as many RATs into the bus bathrooms as was possible without causing injuries and then closing the door and having them sing the fight song and yell cheers. Which was pretty hilarious to listen to, but it was also something where we made sure that the newbies were aware that if they were claustrophobic or had another genuine objection to being in so small a space with so many people, then we were not going to force them, and that was okay. ( end anecdote) The idea behind intiations and hazing is meant to be that it's something the whole group has shared in so that the new members can concretely feel included. All this "terrorize people and humiliate them" business makes no sense to me. That doesn't strengthen relationships within the group, it weakens them. Aside from the "it's completely wrong" portion of fail here, there's the part where it's totally counter-productive.

NOW THAT WE HAVE NO MORE PUNCHING BAGS WHO AM I GOING TO BOTHER. LOOK AT WHAT WE'VE DRIVEN ME TO. ;_; WE WERE JUST SO SHOCKED THAT OUR PRECIOUS MAFI COULD SAY SUCH A THING seriously it was actually so anachronistic with your actual level of intelligence that we were too stunned to think of trolling. I think that's an entirely separate but just as commendable victory. We should have a party. With pie. And punch.

Well Mafi, that's because there are plenty of people who think that victims of bullying/hazing/whatever should just walk away/stand up for themselves/go apeshit and destroy all around them and if they don't IT'S THEIR OWN FAULT OMG.

This attitude makes me want to go apeshit and destroy all around me. I've had to deal with it before. People never expect bullies to account for their behavior because "it's their nature". Serious or not, Maf, STFU with your victim-blaming. Maybe it's just me, but in a way, "they shouldn't have stayed" doesn't sound too far off from "she shouldn't have been walking home all alone". Maybe, maybe not, maybe go fuck yourself. It's shifting the focus away from the real problem.

Given the current state of the economy, those pole-dancing lessons might be very useful upon graduation. ... Shut up. - quamp wrote:

The teenager also said that several of the freshman girls were forced to simulate oral sex with a cucumber.
Yet another skill that may come in handy given the current economy. However, I don't think that they should learn this stuff this way. Wait, who's going to teach them? ... You? Seriously, shut up. - Quote :
- The 11th-grade girls forced one of the freshman girls to give a "lap dance" to several of the boys while some of the older girls took photographs, she said.

Don't worry, I suppose that's a useful skill too! Seriously, some of that stuff sounds like sexual assault, especially the quoted bit up above. It reminds me of the case (posted a long while back on the House) where a young teenage boy was raped by a gang of older boys, who used a broomstick... yet another act of 'hazing'.

Rich coming from some guy who classified all teens as "fucking sluts". Aren't these girls just playing into your expectations, boyo? Bolding for emphasis.
