Kitten who was stoned and burned by teenagers dies of its injuries

Cuddles was being treated at Old Marple Veterinary Hospital, where he was initially expected to make a quick recovery.

But the kitten took a turn for the worse and died yesterday morning.

Officials don't know why Cuddles suddenly died, but there is speculation that it could be from injuries caused by being pelted with stones before being burned.

huddled in a circle around the cat in an alley Saturday on West Fifth
Street, but they scattered when a police car approached.

The cat sustained second- or third-degree burns on its right ear, in

some other accelerant, Schlott said.

"You know when you squeeze a can and a stream comes out? It looks
like they went from the top of its forehead down the spinal column to
its tail," he said. "And then they lit it."

And it's not just one victim, but several.

The following week, a school bus driver was charged with misdemeanor
animal-cruelty counts for tossing kittens out of a bus in Port Richmond.

Kids these days... though it seems to not be just the kids, but adults, too.

It makes me physically sick that my fellow humans would do such a thing to an animal that had done nothing to them. It's just violence for the sake of violence.

I think he named it Cuddles so that in the inevitable event of its death, the headlines would be even more poignant:

"KITTEN NAMED 'CUDDLES' DIES FROM ANIMAL CRUELTY"

You can't help but think of every kitten calendar you've ever seen, of fluffy little kittens hanging out in baskets of flowers and shit.

And you know that from this it's just a short step to assaulting human beings. Even money at least one of these jerks winds up becoming a serial killer.

Alas, not that unlikely. Most serial killers start off torturing and killing small animals and eventually work their way up to human beings.

Though given that it was a group that hurt this one, there could be an element of 'mob rules' involved.

I wouldn't be surprised...unfortunately.
