It's offensive to actual witches. You missed the perfect opportunity to use the 'this is offensive to wiccans' joke. But I guess that was before your time.

Thanks to my propensity to browse old threads when bored, I know exactly what you're talking about and you deserve to be bitchslapped for that. Besides, it's offensive to lots of witches, not just Wiccans. *bitchslaps Aggie*

I don't think so. Thatcher was perceived as an utterly selfish, uncaring brute of a woman who barely listened to the people and went out of her way to fuck over the working class. G.W.Bush is, at least on this side of the pond, perceived as an idiot dancing monkey just doing whatever he was told by Cheney & co. The perception is that Thacher's ideas were hers, and she pushed them through herself, so we can hate her for that. Bush comes across as barely understanding half the situations he was in, and it's hard to hate an idiot.

I know. It's honestly kind of sad IMOO. She's dead, she didn't go around killing people out of hate, and her death didn't add or really change anything. Let it go people, it's a lot more healthy in the long run to not hate people that didn't screw you over just because they didn't like you.I don't even know if I'm making sense. Ugh why do I have to get up at 4 AM

I don't even know if I'm making sense. Ugh why do I have to get up at 4 AM No, she killed the lives and hopes of millions instead. And she did kill out of policy, do feel free to google the General Belgrano. I agree that the hate on display is distasteful. What surprises me is that I hated Thatcher with my entire heart, mind, body and soul, but my reaction to her death is kind of 'meh'. What does make me angry is that the very poorest and most vulnerable in society are facing even greater cuts to what little they have to survive on, by the Tories and their colaborating LibDems, while apparently we can just nod throrugh eight million pounds to give this very rich woman a funeral. The TV is just littered with very rich Tory toffs, telling us how great Thatcher was, so why don't they put their oh, so weathy hands in their pockets and club together to pay for it?

Yeah most people over here tend to see him the same way. Now that he is safely out of office he is pretty easily dismissed as just being some dumbass.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Dubya is a lot cannier than you realise. Bertie Ahern pulled this same "mumbling idiot/man of the people" shit for years, until he finally made up his mind to retire as leader and hand the whole mess over to Brian Cowen. ALL OF A SUDDEN NO MORE EXAGGERATED DUB-A-LIN ACCENT AND ACTUAL ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS INSTEAD OF TRAILING OFF INTO AN INDISTINCT MUMBLE.

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]What the hell do you spend 10 mil on? A solid gold coffin? Someone commented that she "fucking saved this country" and not to go penny punching at a time like this. You're entitled to your opinion, man, but that's one hell of a lot of pennies. | |

A lot of it probably goes to ALL THE SECURITY. At the actual funeral, at the "viewing" or whatever it was they did with Reagan, sticking his corpse on display like the world's strangest museum, and other places. Also, it's probably not Thatcher's fault. She's dead, ya know. Also, it's penny pinching. Goddamn Germans.

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] - Quote :
- The funeral of Baroness Thatcher has been marked by residents of a village scarred by pit closures.
Banners and bunting were hung in Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire, in protest at her policies, as mourners gathered for the funeral at St Paul's Cathedral.
A horse-drawn, open coffin housing an effigy of the ex-prime minister was paraded through the village.
The effigy was set on fire on waste ground at around 15:15 BST and fireworks let off.
Heather Hopwood, landlady of the Rusty Dudley, in Goldthorpe, near Barnsley, said the village had "died" since the pit closure in 1994. More people turned out for this than turned out for the actual funeral in London.
