| so I'm on page 349, part 4 of the book. It’s finally kicked up but there’s a few things off about this one and I'm curious as to whether you fine folks found fault with the book (haven’t seen the films yet). It seems overly detailed and apparently the translator wasn't happy with how it turned out. Also the male lead is a bit of a male Mary Sue, every woman wants to sleep with him and all men but him are evil bastards or gay. At least thus far.
In the end though it’s really not that bad compared to say Twilight, I mean really hands down a much better book, but is it worth the hype? Anyone read the Swedish version and if so was it different at all?
And finally some reviews are saying it glorifies sexual violence though personally I think the book was showing that sexual violence is sick and twisted and really bad.
So thoughts? Opinions? Anyone?

| I've only seen the movies. I did sort of get the impression that while sexual violence was portrayed as bad, it was also hot, to be honest. | |

back to lurkdom for me Maybe if we could understand what you were saying we could have a discussion. I read your posts and all I get are crossed eyes. ... And that's bad for your health. Your face could freeze that way. | |

| The sexual abuse is handled rather coldly in the book, as in Stieg Larsson didn't sugar coat it. But it was not protrayed as right or acceptable, and Lisbeth does get her revenge, so... | |

| I couldn't really get into it. I always got the impression that the women were there so that Blomquist (the Marty Stu mentioned in the OP) could be loved and adored and all that. But at the same time, I also hating the writing and the tendency to intrupt the narrative to soap box and yeah some anvils need to be dropped but it's such a bad storytelling method so yeah, I'm not a fan | |
