Woman dies at work

The article is short, so I'm going to quote it in its entirety:

A California woman was found dead in her office cubicle, but not until a day after she actually passed away.

Rebecca Wells died Friday at her desk in the Los Angeles County Department of Internal Services while performing an audit. She was found by a security guard on Saturday.

The cause of death hasn’t been determined, but coworkers in the KTLA report posted below said she was “always working.”
Wells became a grandmother just a week before her death.

That last part is just the cherry on the shit sundae.

And in this economy, I'm actually surprised more people don't work themselves to death.

I bet the worst part is she never got over-time.

Government employee. Salaried. More time does not equal more money. She probably had a serious problem; people are quick to dismiss "workaholics" as not having a problem, or think they're just really good workers.

My dad was a workaholic.

In fact he still is.

It's the main reason for my parents splitting up.

I like how they pretty much say 'And you thought you had it bad...', it sort of ruins the vibe.

Mine too, and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes like this. Except he'll be in his home office, and the wife won't notice that something's wrong until she goes in there to ask why he stinks.

I'm kind of surprised this hasn't happened before in the US. We've certainly known of it; it's been happening in Japan for years (they call it "karoshi").

I'm sure it has, but this is the first time the media gives a damn. And only because they could turn it into a trite piece of fodder and make light of the fact that someone fucking died, when the woman probably had a mortgage and car payments and whatever else trying to support herself.
