Spacedust And Chaos, wherein Nothing Makes Any Sense At All

This has got to be my very favorite Oldie ever. I would give my eyeteeth to hear Tom Baker do a dramatic reading of this. Spacedust And Chaos: A Requiem, by Chuck Williamson. It's been said that this fic sets the bar for purple prose, and the bar is high indeed.

It's also technically NWS, but you'd hardly know it.

I think my favorite part of this second sentence is that her eyes are peeling from her pupils, which I think means that either her eyeballs are being turned inside out, or are being dragged into her brain. Either way, it sounds painful.

Mmm, I remember this so well. It's one of my favourite Oldies, because it's just.... there's no eye-bleaching horror, no terrible spelling a la legolas by laura - it's just this perfectly incomprehensible block of thesaurus-vomit. It's beautiful.

I mean, look at this crap: "Erudite banquet of love eternal"? I don't think that word means what you think it means.

But then, the same could be said for this entire fic. Oh god, what a glorious travesty. If there ever was a challenger to The Eye of Argon in awkward sentence-structure and abuse of a thesaurus, this is it.
