I read that article Mal. And I was pretty damn disturbed.

One, about the woman he had sex with while she was trashed, who his crew claimed danced for two hours afterwards? I got news for you guys. Someone who is trashed like that cannot give consent, and he doesn't appear to have been nearly as drunk. He shouldn't have touched her. And as for the dancing, well, she was drunk. Really fucking drunk it seems. It wasn't until the next day that she seems to have remembered what happened. And if she did in fact say "No", well then he is in fact a rapist.

Not only that, guy is delusional. He seems to think he's quite the catch and when women don't like him, that makes them cunts and whores and bitches. He doesn't seem to like women at all actually. He treats them like toys.

I'd never even thought about those videos, and I had no idea what was on them. Now that I do know, I kind of want to steal them and set them on fire.

I remember wanting to watch a Girls Gone Wild video when I was 14. It was easy access- having cable for the first time, and eyeballing the commercials between South Park at 11pm. I admit, I wanted to see what was on the other side of those censor bars. If I was watching South Park and that commercial would come on late at night, if my mother was up she'd yell at me to change it. Only because "It was nasty." not because "Not only it's nasty, but they're exploiting those women too." I was never taught about exploitation, neither was my brother. But then, that's something "guys shouldn't have to worry about." Hunh.

I don't want to blame my mom, really. Judging from the commercials it looks like typical spring break. I used to want to go on Spring Break when I was 14 just because I thought it was a big, willing orgy. But then, I was 14. Didn't know much.

But then, I start wondering why I was never told at that age about exploiting others. I was only told to "beware of skanks!" As if somehow, we live in a world that puts all the pressure on women to be careful- watch your drinks, don't do this, don't do that because you'll get raped. I was never told to be particularly nice. Joe Francis is an asshole, there's no denying it- but how would this kind of franchise get off the ground if he wasn't playing off how our culture works. Sad, but true, and it hurts everyone involved, because there's decent guys and girls who would never do such a thing, but culture prods them. How else has this guy been making Girls Gone Wild videos since 1998?

And as for the article- why didn't the bodyguard who told the reporter to press charges against Francis press them himself, or at least stand up for her instead of merely separating the two and going "hurr you should press charges"? Guy wants to keep his job, I suppose. But still- judging by how popular this stuff was at my local high school, he'll find quick replacements. The bodyguard's just as much of a fucknugget as Francis himself.

Because if it isn't Girls Gone Wild, it's the million other porn sites that play off the same thing. And it's not attractive, nor is it enjoyable to watch- it's not making love- it's taking advantage of others. And what does that say about our culture as a whole? Porn's good and all, hell I love good porn- but exploitative porn?

Guess it's good for the dudes like Unskilled, I suppose. Can't get laid any other way, and should just masturbate instead.
