Neopets thumbs nose at Twilight fans

Plenty of people have heard of Neopets, especially since they've become popular enough for extensive marketing. However, not everyone realizes that it was originally a site built by bored college students for bored college students, and that it was founded on a healthy base of snarkiness. Today, the mods finally got fed up with people getting butthurt and whining and bitching about New Moon on the site chat boards, and decided to make their word filter comb out a little more than cusses...

This has rather redirected the whining and butthurt rather than remove it, but at least now it's funny whining and butthurt. And people wonder why I love this site.

Damn, I haven't been on Neopets for a couple of months. Now I want to go on there. This is just too awesome. :D

I forgot my password ages ago so my Neopets have probably long-since died, but I left because it felt a bit lame, partly due to the anthropomorphic shift and the white supremacist undertones of the faery-worship. Now I'm having to reappraise my opinion of Neopets. This is fucking awesome!

I am heading right back to Neopets now. Well played, team, well played.

I would have changed them on a daily basis to a different, random word.

I remember once being on a board where, if I remember correctly, they changed 'LOL' to 'Horgh' (the name of a black metal artist, the site hosted The Top Ten Most Ridiculous Black Metal Pics Of All Time), 'fuck' to 'this word may not be used until 2015 - The Management', 'ROFL' to 'I'm a Faggoth' and 'LMAO' to 'mice crawl up my colon all the time', among other things.

This is so awesome. If only they hadn't listened to whoever wanted the pets to wear clothes.

I've been on that site for ages; why didn't I notice that? Oh that's right, I steer clear the fuck away from the chat boards.

Nice to know there's still a few hilarious asshat higher-ups left within Neopets.
