Transwoman told by her employer that they need pictures of her genitalia if she wants to keep her job

Unless you work in the porn industry, your employer doesn't need to see your genitals.

That's appalling. I'm sure it can't be part of Manpower's normal procedures, I'd guess it to be asshattery on the part of the individual manager.

1. This is sexual harassment. It is illegal. It is also unprofessional.

2. If you want pictures of genitals, Google it. You'll find everything you ever dreamed of.

Multiple, probably. I do hope she's suing for a big fat chunk of money.

1: I can't think of any situation, save perhaps jobs involving porn, where it would be acceptable to ask to see someone's genitals. I hope she sues for sexual harassment, on top of everything else that's wrong with this.

2: Excusing for a moment why the hell it's even necessary for her to go through any of this, why isn't a letter from her doctor enough?

3: Who the hell decided that knowing what's under her clothes is necessary if she's just going to work there?

Well it wasn't part of their procedures when I worked for them back in the mid 1980s doing secretarial temp work. So yeah, I think we've got a manager who's uncomfortable with the idea of someone who's transgendered working for them.

Plus if she's had the surgery, then technically and by definition, she's a woman. She may not have been born a woman, but she's one now, and I would think a letter from her doctor to that effect would suffice.
