Fellow wymyon and potential-rapists (THAT MEANS MEN), I would like to present Allecto, who is possibly the craziest man-hating woman (sorry, WOMON/WOMYN) I have ever come across, ever.

Allecto is rather infamous for writing a series of rants about Firefly, but rest assured, Firefly is not the only thing that Allecto really, really, reeeeeeaaaaaalllllly hates.

She also hates men! All men, pretty much, though I'm sure she would deny it if asked. (Unless, of course, like one commentator "Chris", they kowtow to her, because Allecto WILL delete/edit your comment if she doesn't like it.)

Seriously, what else do you call a post like Football players are gang rapists, in which Allecto opines on the phenomenon of football players raping women:

This is a step in the right direction but I still feel it lacks something. It also feels a bit like a reversal in the way that it replaces the notion of penetrate with encapsulate.

I have nothing I can say to this, other than that it is ridiculous. Feel free to keep on splitting (pubic) hairs, though, Allecto, and whine that hetero sex is rape simply because it involves a dick.

If I'm recalling correctly, it's because spelling it "women" puts "men" as the center or as the focal point. Spelling it "wymyn" or some such lets persons of said gender identify ourselves as unique and independent from men. Or something like that. They can (somewhat) make a point with 'man' and 'woman', with the history of the words (woman simply being wife+male human), and with man generally having the meaning of both male human, and humankind.

The one that gets me is history going to herstory. Because, damn it, the 'his' in history has nothing to do with the male possessive pronoun. They come from two entirely different sources.

I remember this bitch. I can't even work up the aggravation with her anymore because, well, frankly, she's just pitiful.

Yet, gasp shock and awe, I have my own job. I'm educated. I have a life completely independent of a man. I don't need one, I just want one. Isn't that feminism in itself? The whole basis of the movement was for women to not need men. To be able to be educated and support themselves and lead happy, independent lives without one. I think that needing someone puts an uncomfortable slant on a relationship. The other partner is always going to worry, "Do they really love me, or are they so dependent on me that they keep me around?" An aspect of feminism is being equal, so that the woman can seek out relationships without the worry of marriage and money woes over her head, letting her take her time, and find the right partner instead of the first one who comes along.

Allecto is pitiful because she can't grasp that. She shouldn't be forcing herself into relationships with women when she seems pretty heterosexual. It's cruel to the women she's pretending to love, and to herself for not letting herself be happy.

It's people like this [be they men, women, Liberal, Conservative, Black Panther, KKK, Judeo-Christian, Muslim, or any other group] who exacerbate the rifts between us all. (well, them and the limitless human capacity to treat each other like shit)

I can't say who has the better lot, because I'm biased, haven't experienced both genders, and most of it is subjective.

I never realized that football is nothing more than a giant rape machine in our culture. Granted, I can certainly see how competitive contact sports can be aggressive, but even if you were to try to make the link between that and aggression elsewhere, surely other sports would be to blame, too.
