| Haven't read Better Days in ages. Does everyone still look the same, save for some difference in their fur (and tails, I guess)? | |

BD actually wrapped up in May. The sequel comic, Derivative Original Life, started up a month later. It's... not that good, from what I've seen of it.

Look at those comics above with the camel. Draw the characters as humans, and nothing is lost except mild racism, and nothing is gained except maybe a tiny sliver of dignity. I don't think that webcomic was non-furry, though - Better Days (ptoo) does the same schtick with animals = race. I was thinking of Maus, really, since you said that it was good furry art, and Lackadaisy Cats, which I've seen called furry even though the artist says in her FAQ (in response to "are you a furry?"): - Quote :
- Uh. I'm not entirely sure what that means. I draw furries (if you can't
think of a less schmaltzy name for them), but I'm actually a not-very-furry upright primate. I suspect you are too, unless you're a cat walking on the keyboard. Get off the keyboard! My question is just: is art using animals in place of humans automatically furry, even when you don't feel that the artist is deriving sexual satisfaction from the species of the characters or wants to be in the anthro-animal world of their creation? To be on track, I finally figured out why Menage a 3 doesn't irritate me. It's because it doesn't pretend to be a drama or a love story while sneaking in panty shots and giant breasts and stupid situations where the main character sees a love interest naked - it KNOWS what it is, and it revels in it. Which doesn't make it good, necessarily, but it makes me like it more than, say, Love Hina.

| Some people seem to have no problem with the "furry" title in non-sexual cartoons (or at least no more sexual than Mickey Mouse ever got), applying the term as a catch-all for anthropomorphic animals.
way, I figure Candi is worth considering for badness. I mean, it seems to follow the adventures of Candi the Creepily Obsessive in which she... completely fails to get over a break-up. For over a year now, that's what the story's been about. Of course, everyone feels sorry for her even though this has been dragged out forever. Maybe if the title was "Poor Pitiful Me" it'd be more palatable, since you'd know what you were getting into.
Plus there's something about evil squirrels and flying, talking ferrets.

| Sore Thumbs is a constant recommendation of webcomics artists whose work I actually like. Occasionally I try to read it. But no matter where I click in the archives, it all seems the same: Anvil boobies anvil boobies anvil boobies anvil boobies tiny penis anvil boobies anvil anvil laugh now!! Plus the main character's mouth is drawn so super-puckery that whenever I see her face I think of lemon drops. Then I get thirsty. Then I wander away from the computer and end up doing something more interesting, like laundry. | |

| Yeah, Sore Thumbs is pretty terrible. It's just not funny, and the attempts at political commentary are always so insane that they cancel themselves out. | |

Oh man, there was somebody obsessed with Bob and George? Damn, that makes me wish I'd found Orange GAFF before the server went shit, their posts could've been funny until they got really, really repetitive...

| One thing I noticed about Better Days is that Fisk never really had a personality. He did when he was younger, but now he's just... there. And why were they getting on the girl bunny (forgot her name) for being a "total slut" but praised Fisk and Lucy's mom for doing the same thing when they were kids? And how come Fisk's children came out two different species even though they're supposed to be part cat and mouse? Aren't mice Jewish? So only one of the kids are actually jewish? That comic is confusing. | |

| I just tried to backread Sore Thumbs - I went the lazy man's route and did it backward, so it didn't make much sense ... but I feel like each strip makes so little sense that it didn't matter. Why is the doctor pissed that her patient died? Why is there a giant naked Osama bin Laden? Why does someone continue to make this?
After looking at Candi for two minutes, all I can say is that at least the later strips are better than the pointless slice-of-life ones at the beginning.
Fisk is MANLY and MASCULINE and GRUFF, what do you mean he needs a personality?! Also, the rabbit is a slut because she tries too hard - Fisk's mom is just sexy and doesn't try to hide it. Isn't it obvious? There is one acceptable female personality, and if you fall short (Fisk and Lucy's teacher) or overshoot (the rabbit) you fail.

| Holy shit you guys. I'm back with two under the radar terrible comics The first is Rainbow Connections, a comic about gay youth doing unfunny things. The art isn't eye gougingly terrible but...uh. I'll let the strips speak for themselves. The first strip: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]There is no joke. No witty insights. Only "omg we are sooooooooo gay! *limp wrist* (SO MUCH LIMP WRIST; these guys flap their wrists like they're trying to fly away)" These sort of strips make up 90% of the comics. Then you delve into stereotypes and phrases that are rather unsavory in this day and age. (spoilered for many images) - Spoiler:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Besides the obvious problem with this strip, what's with the womanly bodies all these gay men have? Freud would have a field day with this artist. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]CRIPPLE IN A GAY BAR EVERYONE POINT AND STARE. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]bitchez amirite [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I got nothing.
If you're not convinced this is terrible there are two plot arcs that need to singled out for sheer horribleness. 1. Blond gay stereotype falls in love with a Latino guy who admits to being 17 after they have sex. Blond guy is upset, but apparently not upset enough to STOP having sex with a minor. They do it at least 3 more times. wat 2. Gay stereotype 2 falls in love with a Portuguese guy who is not obviously gay, is then RAPED BY STEREOTYPE 2 and then when he explicitly tells S2 he likes women S2 calls immigration and tells them "he was an illegal alien drug lord and had him deported!!". WHAT THE FUCK. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]And then this...This is, well. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I don't know who to blame for this but I want them dead. LOOK AT THAT FINGER. I'm going to try to real through all 200 strips to see if I can find out what the hell I'm looking at, but from what I can tell the author/artist give us nothing. They just throw us into a very dull unfunny "plot" with no explanation for fishhead. The art has not improved at all. It also features a male character who loves porn and boobs. That is his entire character. GROUND BREAKING.
