| I think it was in the second that she was more certain of it, but yea, she's known for a while. However, in the final book, that's when everyone else finds out, and all hints are that society goes INSANE. Somehow.
Apparently Ms. Auel is not familiar with just how many cultures are perfectly aware that sex makes babies, and continue to not give a shit, because the social-father is more important than a sperm donor. Cultures do not change overnight, as Auel seems to think, certainly not from a single piece of news. | |

A lot of authors make this mistake, however--it especially seems to occur in books, movies, and fanfics where some character is converting everyone else to a particular religious or political POV. | |
