Romanians flee Northern Ireland following racist attacks

Now, no matter how you feel about immigration, I think it's safe to say that violent attacks and driving people out is not an acceptable response.

But the Irish have been oppressed by the English for centuries, so that makes it OK, amirite?

See, if you knew anything about anything, you would've gone for the more appropriate snark, which is that the two communities in Northern Ireland are only just learning to get on with other white English-speaking Christians, so of course they go crazy when someone who's actually different shows up.

Does this have anything to do with gypsies? For some reason I feel it is but can't remember anything.

Roma are gypsies. Sounds like "roam", which is what they do. (It's too late/early for me to be clever) They consider themselves to be from everywhere/nowhere a lot of the time. Romanians are from the eastern European country Romania.
