I honestly don't know why the two of you go spewing every last scary bit you've ever heard about every disease you can think of when nobody here is actually against vaccination. Who are you preaching to? Why? All that was said is that "if your son gets the measles HE'S GONNA DIE" is ridiculous. Actually, I was agreeing about the need for vaccination (with examples to back up my arguments). Also, please note that I didn't say "All teh unvaccinated people are gonna die!!!111!eleventy11!!!" Few diseases are universally fatal, and fewer still are universally contractible.

The flu vaccine is fucking useless. Vitamin D is more effective, and it doesn't make your arm hurt.

Wait, you don't get the BCG where you are? No...is it used in Ireland? Here we just get tested for exposure.

Wait, you don't get the BCG where you are? No...is it used in Ireland? Here we just get tested for exposure. I think it's still used, I'll have to check with my sis whether my niece got it. I've got a big scar on my upper arm where I had it as a baby. In sixth class (final year of primary school) we were tested to see if the vaccine was still providing immunity. A nurse jams this thing with about twelve little needles into your forearm and if the pinpricks come up in little bumps the vaccine's still effective. If you don't have a reaction you get the BCG again. My sister had no reaction and had to have the injection. She had to have a bandage over the injection site, it was that painful.

| I had the BCG when I was 5 and was exposed to TB at a family wedding (my uncle was a concentration camp survivor, and came home with TB. He was also at the wedding). That was in 1961. Just about every kid in my class at school had those little bumps on their arm. As far as I know, it's still used in the UK. | |

| Wow...the BCG isn't commonly given in the U.S. (or at least not California). One would think it would be given, considering the fact that people come here from all over the world, including places where TB is far more common than in the U.S.
I once met a kid with active TB (he came to school sick, and the office put him in a study carrel in the library in an attempt to isolate him until he could be sent home), but I don't think I picked up any of the bacteria, because I have never tested positive for TB exposure (I've been tested three time since then, as a mandatory condition of continued employment).

Thank you grumbles. Although I am still not sure since when being anti-vac was an indigo thing? I am not sure that is really an indigo thing. We were talking about how indigo parents do not want to admit their kid has autism and then somehow made this leap to the whole vac=/=autism debacle and I am not sure how that happened?

I just sneezed blood. When I was a kid I learned how to crush smarties good and proper to snort them. In a nice line and everything. Probably a Scarface re-enactment type of deal but whatever
