3) Garuda is the name of an aircraft in a Godzilla movie. Double LOL.
In Indonesian "garuda" means "eagle," so it's a logical name for both aircraft and airlines (and that word was borrowed from, I would guess, India, where "Garuda" is the name of a god who, IIRC, appears in the shape of an eagle or a large bird of prey). None of which alters the ridiculousness of the song, of course.

2) That's not Josh Groban singing.
It's an Australian tenor, James Egglestone.
Wait, he's not a Garuda employee? They actually hired an honest-to-goodness musician to sing that? And he managed to get through the whole chart without falling over laughing?!?
Honestly, I did not believe anything could make this funnier, but you have proven me totally wrong.

Hunh. By now I've seen the whole
Spoiler:
"face taped, forced to eat previous person's shit"
thing in a few different pieces of art. I'd almost call it a trend. Is it the sheer shock value that makes it popular, or is it a chain of copycat artists?
Probably won't ever get to me the same way
Spoiler:
suitcase girl did.

Where's the candy? There should be sweet rainbow-y goodness pouring out of that strawberry jam filled corpse.

Well, since I don't actively seek out gore / shock imagery, it was odd that it just kept cropping up in other places.

Shock, I'll give you, but Human Centipede isn't a gore film. No recent 'artsty' horror films have exploited gore, they all know that it's what you don't see that is far more powerful. Hence the most powerful scene in Saw...
Spoiler:
where the guy actually saws his foot off
...isn't powerful because you see everything, but because you don't see anything, all you get are reaction shots of the guy watching it.
It's sequels all fail because they show you everything, rather than insinuate it. (With the exception of the last one in the set, where it stops taking itself seriously and just takes the piss!)
Human Centipede tapped this superbly, however it was done out of fluke/poor budget rather than intent, unfortunately. Otherwise the sequel might have been something worth considering. As it is, it's a giant pile of wank so extreme even the BBFC has banned it. (And let me tell you, the BBFC really aren't that squeemish! If they flat-out ban something, it's for a darn good reason!)
I had a bit of a rant about them here. (spoiler free)

Yeah, I meant shock, gore, twisted, whatever in general. I'm just not a huge fan of being grossed out by intentionally gross / horrific / shocking things. It doesn't matter if they are graphically shown, or just implied. I won't scream "Think of the children!" and demand that they disappear, but it's more like, "I kinda have better things to spend my time and money on than the feeling of general unpleasantness."
I start to change my mind from "This is is just pointless gross-out imagery" to "Yeah, I might stick around," when it goes from shock towards the more plot-driven suspence / thriller / mystery genres. Not enough reason to stick around = Sakur can't give enough of a crap.
EDIT: Like, I'll take a graphic scene or two of, say, some horrible holocaust shit happening, but within the context of a holocaust plot.. If you just show me two hours of people suffering with very little explanation or story, it doesn't much matter to me if the director artfully made me imagine the horrific imagery, or graphically threw it up on the screen as gore-porn. And for me, I'm just not artsy enough to be all "Their suffering is the plot in itself!"

That was awesome. Kind of puts what the Nostalgia Chick said about that song into perspective as well.

I was reminded of that Patton Oswalt routine last week when I posted in a comment thread that yes, the song could be worse than "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer."
