I've always loved a good pop song. In particular, I have a particular love for the rock music subgenre known as "power pop". What is power pop? It's basically pop music directly influenced by pop music from the 50's and 60's. Drums, guitar, bass, vocals, lots of hooks and lots of harmonies. No synths, no drum loops, no rap breakdowns, just plain, good ole' fashioned, Beatles-style pop music. Golly.
Thus, it came as a surprise, music nerd that I am, that the band Tinted Windows went under my radar for so long (I only heard them yesterday). In case you don't know, Tinted Windows is a power pop supergroup, and unlike most supergroups, this band has more than two members from bands you've probably actually heard of! It's line-up...
James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins)
Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick)
Taylor Hanson (Hanson)
Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne)
If you're a fan of good, guitar-driven, hypercatchy pop music, here you go, for your listening pleasure... (beware... this song can get stuck in your head for days!)
